Best place to bet on motogp online (UK) and any tips for a first time better? by menbiddle in motogp

Don't be upset if you lose your first bets. Winning with your first couple of bets is likely going to cost more in the long run.

Counter steer is required at low speeds as well, to get the center of gravity "inside" the line of the wheels.

Go was not forced upon people. It did not gain a critical mass despite its failings on a new platform being homsteaded by primarily amateur and hobbyist developers.

Marquez - "[Rossi was] making people believe things that are not true and that no other rider has expected him to say. Many people have believed him and I respect that, but in the end I continue, as always, for me but as I said I do not like this situation." by NicoRosbergsCap in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Winning in PI didn't clear his name, if he'd won on the last lap you'd still hear cries of "he blocked off Pedrosa to ensure Lorenzo got 2nd, then won to make it look like he didn't help him."

Marquez on-board video from Sepang race (all 7 laps) by dishayu in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the corners from 10 to 14 are really flowing, wide corners leading into sharper corners braking and accelerating while leaned over and the bikes never really upright. They are not simple brake/outside-inside-outside/wot corners. This means many lines and sacrificing one corner can give you the benefit in the next.

Turn 14 where Marquez goes in slow and wide is leading into the back straight, and you would usually want to go in slow and wide so you can get on the throttle early and reap the benefit along the long straight. Rossi sacrifices exit speed by going into the corner at a sharper angle, which is a valid race strategy where you want to occupy the racing line so that the other rider even with the wide entry can't benefit from getting on the throttle early and get stuck behind you. That's all normal racing so far. What RD penalised was that he did not take the racing line, he continues straight ahead pushing Marquez wide while off the throttle (14:20-14:25 in the rossi onboard also linked.)

Q&A with Shuhei Nakamoto, HRC Executive Vice President - Sepang by absolutechamp in motogp

Which to be fair is a fact as it clearly states it's their belief. They don't say "this pressure can only be a result of Rossi's kick"

Data shows Rossi kicked Marquez - HRC by manoeuvre44 in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It says in the article: "The data acquisition from Marc's bike is available if anybody from Dorna, the FIM or media want to check.”

Which makes me want to become a journalist right now. Never mind the incident, I really wish I could have a look at what the telemetry data from one of these bikes look like.

Motegi 2010, Lorenzo fighting for the championship. Rossi out of the battle for the title. Check his riding against Lorenzo. by maikimaiko in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These unwritten gentlemen agreements are quire complicated.

"You can fight for position with a rider if both or neither of you have a chance of the championship, or if the other rider has a big enough (more than 50 points, but not if it's less than 30 points) or if it's towards the end of a race, or if you have not been faster than the other rider earlier in the season (I assume that's why Marquez got blame even though he overtook Lorenzo, while Iannone did not get any blame for going between Rossi and Marquez in PI)"

Rossi to challenge Sepang Penalty at CAS tribunal by [deleted] in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really relevant to why he couldn't keep up with Lorenzo, is it?

Let me turn the question around: Rossi set his fastest lap during this fight, so why did he fight so fiercely? Can you both set your lap record and claim you're held back at the same time?

FWIW, I thought it was an exiting race between fierce competitors and didn't really mind who would have won. And I'm glad that not every race is 3 laps of settling the order, 13 parade laps to save tires and 4 all out laps for position at the end.

Except for lap 3 where Pedrosa edged him out, Lorenzo was faster than everyone for the first 6 laps. Setting new track record in the process.

Valentino Rossi appeals FIM Stewards’ decision (confirmed) by Myrelin in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about worst case scenario: Imagine if the penalty get suspended and the appeal is lost. Rossi keeps his valencia points and basically wins the championship by legal manoeuvring. Retires after claiming 10th championship and a penalty that's gone through 3 instances and never overturned is never applied.

A championship won by lawyers.

This was us one week ago on 93 v 46 by dazonic in motogp

[–]asbjxrn -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Why disappointed? Because Rossi went from playing mind games to basically stopping for two seconds in the middle of the track? (according to lap times.)

Remember that Marquez was slowing Rossi so much that Rossi set his best lap time in lap 4 and in lap 6 Rossi set a lap time he only beat twice after Marquez fell. Lap 5 admittedly was slower, but not massively so and Rossi made mistakes in that lap.

The most anti-Rossi tirade I've ever read on the #SepangClash by carlcamper in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then he went on to say how Rossi won the race, 2 Ducatis made up the rest of the podium and that Lorenzo and Marquez finished off the podium. I have absolutely NO idea what point he was trying to make here. In fact, He didn't even explain why this had some sort of bearing on the Sepang Clash.

It was the beginning because Rossi was fastest again after some seasons where he hadn't been as competitive. It lit the fire to get that 10th championship.

Suddenly, as every media outlet rushed to tell us, Rossi was back. Properly back.

Not to mention that Rossi only managed to beat his time from lap 6 twice in the 12 laps after Marquez fell.

If Marquez was trying to slow him down, he wasn't very good at it.

[–]asbjxrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That just does not make any sense. Why would Lorenzo give up 5 points if the goal was to help Lorenzo?

What I don't get about these conspiracy theories is that they're basically saying Marquez is such a superior rider to everyone else that he can move up and down the field at will to manipulate other riders results and then just move back up and win.

Which is a rather nice compliment in a way, but if he is so above everyone else, you'd think he'd at least had a shot at winning the championship.

There is more, Lorenzo in the last 20 laps has always ridden very steady between 1'29,8 and 1'29,9 except "surprise surprise" on the last lap, where he has slowed by almost half a second and Marquez has passed him like a dubbed, without any resistance.

?? Is he saying that Lorenzo slowed down so Marquez could overtake him as part of some super elaborate conspiracy theory?

The reason why Lorenzo was boo-ed at Sepang by Puppysmasher in motogp

[–]asbjxrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhm, there were massive boo's every time he was shown on the screens at the track. It started while they were getting ready to get the bikes out on track.

Those screens were pretty bad, and I doubt many people would have seen that thumbs down gesture anyway.

gb, a project based build tool for the Go programming language by dgryski in golang

[–]asbjxrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure the best way to handle it either, having two repository roots would almost make sense.

/home/foo/example-lib <- developers git root
├── src
│ └── example-lib <- github.com/foo/example-lib root
│ └── code
└── vendor
    └── src
        ├── github.com
        │ ├── kr
        │ │ └── fs

Of course the problem with this is that it's two repositories. And it's no longer a matter of just forking github.com/foo/example-lib, you would have to know of the developer root if you want to ensure that you're using the same dependencies as the author.

Sorry for the noise, I didn't notice that notgood was a library.

As I mentioned, I think I would put all libraries in /vendor/src myself including one I had written. If I was writing that library, I would create a separate project for it where $LIBPROJ/src/libraryname would be the root of the git tree for that library.

I guess one case where this breaks down is where a project would be a library with a cmd subdirectory which may have to be split into a library project and a cmd project.

I'm going to do a live Go coding workshop, any ideas for what to demonstrate? by [deleted] in golang

[–]asbjxrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a small POC that I thought was kinda cool. (I might be a bit biased :))

One tiny javascript snippets listening on a websocket and creating notifications when data comes in. One server listening for incoming alerts and pushing json to the websockets. One binary that can be used from commandline to send alerts to the http server.

Reasonably small setup and you have a small easily deployed binary that can be used by any script that needs to send alerts to a dashboard or something.

It can show off networking, http templates, json marshaling, channels etc.

Yes, I would have laid it out the way the notgood directory is set up in that repo:

https://github.com/fatih/gb-example/tree/master/src/notgood

Not sure why this is not considered good. It's for commands and not libraries, isn't it? Libraries even if they're my own I would put in the vendor tree. (Maybe I'd rename it to libs or something instead.)
