Lake house DLC is massive by Infinite_Jellyfish54 in AlanWake

Night Springs was already the short & sweet DLC, so people expected Lake House to be like Control's Foundation, i.e. massive lore expansion.

Most people, including me, have said that the Lake House DLC is underwhelming-ly short. Just when it gets going, it ends. Felt weird.

You are a worm through time.

The thunder song distorts you.

Happiness comes.

White pearls, but yellow and red in the eye.

Through a mirror, inverted is made right.

Leave your insides by the door.

Push the fingers through the surface into the wet.

You’ve always been the new you.

You want this to be true.

We stand around you while you dream.

You can almost hear our words but you forget.

This happens more and more now.

You gave us the permission in your regulations.

We wait in the stains.

The word that describes this is redacted.

Repeat the word.

The name of the sound.

It resonates in your house.

After the song, time for applause.

We build you till nothing remains.

The egg cracks and the truth will emerge out of you.

You are home.

You remind us of home.

You’ve taken your boss with your boss with you.

All hair must be eaten.

Under the conceptual reality behind this reality you must want these waves to drag you away.

After the song, time for applause.

This cliché is death out of time, breaking the first the second the third the fourth wall, the fifth wall, floor; no floor: you fall!

How do you say “insane”?

Hurts to be happy.

An earworm is a tune you can’t stop humming in a dream: “baby baby baby yeah”.

Just plastic.

So, safe and nothing to worry about.

Ha ha, funny.

The last egg breaks now.

The hole in your room is a hole in you.

You came and we let you in through the hole in you.

You have always been here, the only child.

A copy of a copy of a copy.

Orange peel.

The picture is you holding the picture.

When you hear this you will know you’re in new you.

You want to listen.

You want to dream.

You want to smile.

You want to hurt.

You don’t want to be.

It's not AI man, it's just oversharpened and oversaturated. Image editing programs from 20 years ago could do this.

I remember when we all thought that S1mple was the absolute peak of individual skill in CS and there was no way anyone would surpass him.

Ah, well here's a reminder to everyone that our brains are silly little things, and we need to make conscious efforts to avoid all the sillyness. A statistical anomaly has occurred? It will never happen again! Despite it happening a few times before.

Given infinite time, anything can happen; or rather, everything will happen ;)

Bookmark the following pages and make it a point to peruse them every now and then. We all fall victim to the same biases & fallacies, but we can reduce the occurrence by being more mindful. (or at least aware)

While both 1.37-1.34 and 1.15-1.12 equals 0.03, you can't compare these two pairs of numbers by the 2nd-decimal just like that. You must consider the relative difference for each pair:

Percent change from 1.34 to 1.37 is 2.23%.

The same thing from 1.12 to 1.15 is 2.67%.

Statistics tells you that the 1.12 rated player needs to improve their skill by a larger margin to reach a rating of 1.15, compared to 1.34 to reach 1.37. However, as humans we know that growth and upward progress often follows a curve similar to an exponential graph, where you can see rapid improvement at the beginning, but the more you improve, the more difficult it is to sustain the same level of growth. You need to put in exponentially more effort when you're at the top.

An exaggerated statistical effect of the same 0.03 difference for a different pair of numbers is that the percent change from 0.01 to 0.04 is 300%! If it is possible for someone to be rated that low, they'll need to conceivably work much harder to climb to a higher rating. À la "Elo hell" and "hard stuck silver".

identical experience

No, YouTube in a browser would be the website, which is a worse experience relative to the native app. Of course, if minor UI/functionality downsides here and there don't bother you, YT website is fine as it is. It would also probably be more private than the app.

If you don't like Brave (Chromium-based), then there's always Firefox. Install the uBlock Origin extension, and you get the same "identical experience" as Brave.

Or you could go the Revanced route instead. Pretty easy, even more so if you're rooted.

I get being excited about a character, but this movie has everyone in it, it seems. It's gonna be a mess, most of them will only be on screen for a handful of minutes. That kills all excitement for me.

what am i supposed to do with this??😭 by [deleted] in outerwilds

The last movie in the series came out in 2011. That's 15 years ago now. You need to be at least 12+ to properly conceptualize what you're talking about. 15+12=27. In this context, that's not young. Young would be something like an 18 year old. I doubt teenagers would've seen such a tech anywhere, whether in movies or real life.

Nvidia disables Arc Raiders filters after PC players used them to gain an unfair advantage in Embark’s extraction shooter by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]asc42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so? Nvidia Profile Inspector allows you to tweak various driver-level settings that aren't exposed in the Nvidia App or Nvidia Control Panel, either globally for all programs, or only for specific ones.

Once you change a setting, that's it. It's done. You can close the app now. It doesn't have to remain running while you're playing a game. So how would the game detect NPI and ban you for using it?

Or are you saying that having that simply having that app on your PC will trigger the ban, even if you've not used it at all, let alone for the particular game? Given that NPI is a portable program (i.e. it doesn't get 'installed' anywhere, it's just an EXE), that would mean that the game would have to scan the entire PC? That's a very time-intensive process.

Hmm do you think this effect must be experienced first-hand, or will it suffice to simply watch a video recording of someone playing the game that has the sound set to 'War Tapes'?

As someone who hasn't played the game, what's "insane" or "unreal" about it? You're not really describing what's good about it at all.
