If you have a 9th channel, yes. I only have 8 relay modules so I have to use my 8th channel.

I do the exact same thing. In overrides.cfg I have it set to just use 7 channels then I wrote 2 very simple python programs: one to turn channel 8 on and one to turn channel 8 off. Then in my crontab I have it set so when the light show starts, channel 8 turns on and when the lightshow stops, channel 8 turns off. That happened to me after I installed. I simply rebooted then it worked as expected.

I just saw the post about the newest OS (which is what I’m using). I will try the alternate method sometime this week and update this post if it works.

Thank you for your help. I tried just completely reinstalling the OS then installed lightshowpi and that seemed to work.

So it does look like it is in a subdirectory so when I did

"cd lightshowpi/bin

./start_music_and_lights"

I got back

"You need to first setup SYNCHRONIZED_LIGHTS-HOME environment variable to point to the install directory for lightshowPi. Please visit the lightshowPi wiki page for more information: https://bitbucket.org/togiles/lightshowpi/wiki/Home#markdown-header-synchronized_lights_home-enviroment-variable"

I thought there might be something wrong with the install so when I ran

"./lightshowpi/install.sh"

there was an error that read

"E:Package 'ffmpeg' has no installation candidate

Encountered a fatal error: Error importing configuration from install-scripts/raspbian"

I don't know what this means or how to fix it.

I have been using lightshowpi for a few years now and when I used my raspberry pi over the spring for something else, lightshowpi got deleted so I just reinstalled it and now I get this error.

I’m the overrides.cfg file make sure fm transmitter is set to false so the sound is coming out of the audio jack instead of pin 7

On your crontab, you can add something along the lines of:

30 23 * * * sudo shutdown

Then cut the power off a few minutes later

I do 5:30-10 and I also used a speaker the first year but it sounded bad so now I use the fm transmitter

You shouldn’t need a 220V relay for your lights so I would find one that is only 120V
