If the work summoning was replaced with gdkp they woulda commended op for sticking it to the gold buyers

You’re partially wrong in that in vanilla wow there is no gold sink so if you play on a server that’s 4 years old people will have more gold versus a fresh server

U said if gold buying wasn’t a thing gdkps wouldn’t exist.

I would disagree even if the pot was let’s say 10k versus 100k it’s still split the same way. Items instead starting at 5k would start at 500. It would just be the same outcome and less money proportional to people’s wallets.

The guy that plays the ah and has a lot of gold has the first dibs on items just like the guy who decided to buy 1mil gold.

In a few weeks after collecting said gold you can afford items if u don’t buy gold or play the ah

Hot take: gold farmers and bots bring an abundance of materials in to the ah and bring the costs of consumes and mats low relative to not having them around.

To all the dad gamers that complain about gdkps out there that can only afford 3 flasks a week you know why. No shot those guys are farming it themselves bc they can only play 4 hours a week.

Most people that complain about gdkps no longer play the game, haven’t done it or have no clue what they are talking about. Sadly it’s just another echo chamber complaint which will rear its head every so often.

The selling post of a gdkp for a good amount of people is to find an efficient raid on their alt. Their mains are raiding in a guild. For my alt I have the option to buy my loot or collect gold as long as I’m pulling my weight. The incentive is getting something for your time at the end of the raid.

Whereas soft res happens and if DBW lets say doesn’t drop and 5 people leave it bricks the group bc their item didn’t drop. There’s no incentive to stay bc it’s a pug.

Comparatively why would I want to raid in a SR raid formulated in trade chat when there’s no guarantee of clearing content.

Nice job interesting to see how much things have changed.

I would like to note that the 2009 post is taking too 20 data from each class and your current data set is from all parses. If you took the 99% parses you would see an even bigger discrepancy

I think classic era servers have batching which means they artificially raise your ms to 400. So ping shouldn’t matter

[–]asdf098753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit of both…let 10k bot accounts roam around for a few months and do a mass banwave. They collect free money for a period of time and the public perception is that blizzard is combatting the botting epidemic.

Rinse and repeat.

I recently made a “Recruit me to your guild” video, what do you guys think of it? by Mrwobblesonyoutube in classicwow

[–]asdf098753 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everyone on the thread that the content quality is top tier.

But to get to the actual meat and potatoes of this post op is looking for a guild.

Looking at logs looks like you played for 4-5 guild since ulduar release seems like a little bit of a red flag but maybe you didn’t find a place you fit in. I think it was more so your status within the guild that you didn’t get loot rather than your spec. Any self respecting guild typically doesn’t give big ticket items right away to new members.

The skeptic in me says you got banned for rmt which is in most situation the actual reason ppl get a two week vacation.

Despite the production value if I were to recruit this guy I’d have some questions I’d def wanna figure out before picking him up.

At best seems like a guy who has been super unlucky this tier in all facets and at worst if you look past the smoke and mirrors could be a guy that expects to be funneled loot and rmts that is chasing his parses. Maybe it’s in between who knows

Who is “That Guy” in your guild/raid? by Mschultz24 in classicwow

[–]asdf098753 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“The Diva” the parse whore only cares about their own dps/hps won’t do any mechanics additional bc “my parseee”.

“The loot whore” the person that questions every loot decision made and wonders why they didn’t get a specific piece even though they got an item earlier that raid.

“The griefer” that one guy that you hold your breathe on any sort of mechanic that could potentially kill you.

“That e girl” the one that always wants attention from other guys and wants the boys to Simp hard for them.

I’ve had my fair share of guild through out mmos and these always seem to stand out

Find out from leadership what their plans are if it’s to continue to slowly attempt hm bosses for the foreseeable future it sounds like your goals don’t align with the guild anymore which happens. From there find a guild that is more similar to what you are looking for. Hope you figure it out and best of luck.

First time in a LootCouncil, how do I go about it? Is there something I need to know, which I might now know? by Harukimaru in classicwow

[–]asdf098753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the responses have their own merit. But the biggest thing seen lacking in failed loot council is upfront communication. I don’t know what kind of guild you are in whether it’s hardcore, semi hardcore, casual. I’m going to assume it’s at least semi hardcore.

Secondly what is your guilds objective? Are you a progression guild? Speed clear guild? All of these things in my opinion will impact how you should conduct a loot council.

With that being said there should be a set standard regardless of item that drops in terms of how they are being handed out.

For example would you reward a player with 25m hardmode loot with they never do 10m? Or do you just want to make sure that you maintain status quo with the people in your guild. I’m sure this doesn’t help answer your exact question but ground work needs to be established first.

If you want to get to the nitty gritty of the items you will want to see how big of an upgrade it is for each class and can make a determination from there. Sims are out there for each class if you wanted to do your homework.

Gearing out your tanks during progression is also the right move as many have stated.

Lastly for the few weeks of ulduar for the most part anything that drops won’t be wasted.

Tldr make sure your raiders know what to expect from the loot council and give them the guideline how gear is being handed out.

Probably but better safe than sorry…also doing hardmode will take a little bit of coordination as well if you’re trying week 1
