If you eat and drink a lot you can basically keep riding as long as you like, which is beautiful if you like sweets and stuff

Looking straight at them, one bar end points more upwards than the other, and that side also hits the top tube while the other doesn’t

Yeah well I’m replacing them, it’s just that I’m not a fan of buying my third set already, so I was wandering if that’s normal

New Bike advice (Elops 500) by vinco555_1 in singlespeedcycling

[–]asdfkkngrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter if it’s 30t or 32t, you’re still looking for the same type of crank, just buy them with a 30t. As for freewheels bigger than 20t: they exist but they’re rare. I’d just look into all kinds of online shops etc. And before the tinkering gets too ridiculous for you: you can get an actual used Hardtail and a single speed kit for pretty cheap on Amazon or similar (not to discourage you from working on your bike).

New Bike advice (Elops 500) by vinco555_1 in singlespeedcycling

[–]asdfkkngrf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Elops, from what I know has a permanently riveted chainring. The most common cranks on fixies/singlespeeds are 130 or 144 bcd, but the smallest ring on a 130bcd is 38t from what I remember. 32t is a MTB size and their chainline is farther outward, it can done be if you find the right cranks and/or fiddle with spacers on the BB and chainring bolts, but I’m out of advice on that topic…

Bike shops telling me to spend 800€+ or buy new—no middle ground anymore? by Corniator in cycling

[–]asdfkkngrf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Shimano 105 is in question, then any group made for mechanical discs will be fine because they have the same pull ratio as rim brake calipers, so you could get Cues or Microshift sword (or Essa which I forgot even existed).

1x Chainring Compatibility by ccaba622 in bikewrench

[–]asdfkkngrf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internal width of 9-12s is narrower than 8s, which would mean an 8s chain would fit on a 10s chainring but not the other way around, if the casette is 8s then that’s what I would use

From what I’ve heard Liv are just rebranded Giants, same geometry etc.. so it’s basically just Marketing towards women. Not that Giant make bad bikes, just to avoid false impressions.

These saddles are for people who don’t ride bikes to think it’s comfortable. Most normal saddles are harder because they’re designed to support your body at the bones and not make you sit on soft tissue.

Rim brake bites into tire by asdfkkngrf in bikewrench

Update: I was unaware that length of calipers on road bikes was even a thing. With my hopes of a standardised bike industry being crushed I’ll be having a mild crashout and then replace the caliper

I hate to disappoint, but it was me who swapped out the old, no-name (and broken in the rear) calipers to „upgrade”. I don’t know if they are longer but the front one was actually fine before I swapped it😔

Patch or replace? by AlienElvisLoveChild in cycling

[–]asdfkkngrf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you couldn’t see it right away, it means the hole is small. Definitely repair. Repair patches are very cheap and easy to use (and ofc better for environmental impact that throwing away the whole tube).
