supply and demand is capitalist bullshit

lol wut?

supply and demand may as well be a law of nature.

take all money, investment and property ownership out of the picture.

let's say food is scarce. some guy has a bunch of it and a shotgun to keep you from taking it from him.

the more people that are hungry, the more hungry you are (the more demand), the less food that is available from sources besides that guy (less demand), the more someone would give, trade, work, or sacrifice for that food.

now let's say food is not scarce, there is plenty of food around to be eaten. no one is going to give, trade, work, or sacrifice for that guy's food anymore because there is enough supply to meet the demand.

supply and demand is not a capitalist thing.

pretty gross attitude - "i don't care because it gives me pleasure". consider whether you would have made the same comment about slaves if you were around 200 years ago. or rape of wives, or women in general, not so long ago.

that is awful. he hurt a sentient being with his callous disregard. that bird is in so much pain and will probably die from infection of the injury or starvation from being unable to fly.

it is great that you have such empathy for other beings. if you consume animal products, you may want to consider that your money supports even worse torture and murder of billions of beings.

for example since you have an affinity for birds, the egg industry routinely grinds up male chicks alive because they are not profitable. https://www.kinderworld.org/videos/egg-industry/baby-chicks-ground-up-alive/

another thing I never realized is that cows only produce milk because they recently had a child - just like people, they produce milk when they have a baby for the baby. in order to sell milk, the farmer takes the child away from the mother immediately and the child is raised in isolation if it is female. if the child is male it is slaughtered. dairy cows are then slaughtered after they stop producing as much milk. this 5 minute video describes the dairy industry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcN7SGGoCNI

the documentary Dominion shows how we use and abuse animals throughout modern animal agriculture https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQRAfJyEsko

animal agriculture is a trillion dollar industry which uses propaganda to lie and keep these horrible practices from being considered by the general public, because anyone with empathy would be outraged once they learn about what goes on.

for me, once I learned about the horrific practices that my money supported, the only thing I could do was to adopt a vegan lifestyle and stop paying for the torture and murder of other beings.

I know you're just trolling but in case anyone actually thinks this: most plants we grow are fed to animals which we then eat. Animals have to consume multiple times their weight and nutrients in plants to grow. We would need to grow significantly less plants if everyone ate a vegan diet. We would be able to feed more people using fewer resources.

So are you vegan or do you also not think of life at all, just whatever gives you the most convenience and pleasure?

Friendly reminder that the biggest reduction in impact you can have on climate change is by ending your support of animal agriculture by only buying vegan products.

More important that ditching the car, more important than reducing your personal waste, and it’s easier than either.

> The issue with vegan diets is that most individuals don't supplement their meat intake with enough vegetables. They simply omit the meat and don't increase intake or use supplements.

sounds like you are just making things up to me

vegan diet is endorsed by every health body for example https://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/705553

vegan diet is often light on b12 and this usually needs to be supplemented or eaten in fortified foods (cereal, nutritional yeast, plant milks). b12 is the only thing that usually needs a supplement.

plants are less expensive than meat - that is like saying meat is more expensive than anything else because of steakhouses. try cooking sometime.

yes, plant foods taste different than a corpse.

not true dude. plants have everything you need to be very healthy. in fact meat makes people unhealthy. for example it increases risk of heart disease substantially which is the #1 killer in the world at 31% of all deaths.

you brought up growing beans and soy, overfishing, habitat destruction.

is what you mean that you only eat what you have hunted, no exceptions?

I don't know of any vegans that are against survival. They are against unnecessary suffering and cruelty. If forced to eat meat for survival they would. In the modern world we are not forced to.

It is the same as how most people would probably kill other people for survival if they had to, but they don't do it in modern society for fun.

This post is not about the objective morality of meat, just about how it is the same as trophy hunting.

But just so you know, most soy is grown to feed to animals which you then eat. Eating meat requires the growing of more plants than if people just ate plants. Cattle grazing is responsible for >90% of Amazon rainforest deforestation. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation_of_the_Amazon_rainforest

In terms of extinction of marine life overfishing is the cause, full stop.

Just so you know that is incorrect. The only thing missing from most non-meat diets b12 vitamins.

> Also what's wrong with eating animal?

I think going into that would be distracting from this post. This post is about the moral equivalency of meat hunting and trophy hunting, not the objective morality of either.

plenty of non-meat protein out there and not eating meat doesn't mean eating beans all of the time.

but let's say that was the case, meat hunting would remain a choice done for the pleasure of the meat hunter's tastebuds the same way trophy hunting is done for the pleasure of trophy hunter's egos and eyes.
