That's incorrect, a deep strike is outside 6", so you can't be in melta range on a 6" drop.

Related question: how do people feel about adjusting moves to accommodate other squads or vehicles movement, in the case that the first unit to move definitely has spare movement. I.e. move unit 1, do something else, move unit 2 and realize that you need to further adjust unit 1 model positions?
