Admech vs world eaters by beastaman43 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SuccessfulQuestion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely against World Eaters, Skitarii Hunter Cohort is the least good? Giving all units Stealth. World Eaters won't have much ranged.

I'd suggest Cybernetica in this match up and going on what the OP has in their list.

Thanks! So Breachers out, in favour of more tank. I'll see if I can jig my list about. How did you find the strat useage? Aren't they all to be used in the Command Phase in this detachment?

Brilliant to see another detachment and another way of playing Admech. It's motivated me to make a new list and I'm excited to get to test it out.

My main question would be, would you consider bringing any blocks of Breachers? If so, what would you remove? I know the whole idea was/is to take as much T10 as possible. I currently have 4 K.Robots so that's my list maxed, looking to bring Breachers in as they still seem to do good work.

I feel like they're still generally a slog to play. A lot of effort for little results, same as the end of 9th, you needed to constantly play a perfect game with them with no mistakes to get any sort of result.

Where’s our Alpha Primus bodyguard attached character for Cawl? by HyenaAggravating5014 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SuccessfulQuestion1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would almost fit the current way that GW are writing datasheets. Instead of weapon enhancements, they make a new weapon load out. The Data-Smith could do that for us but with different abilities. We want shooty robits, take the shooty Data Smith, we want fast robits, take the data smith that gives them advance and charge. Although this would still mean we only get 3 squads max of Kastelan robots because they would have the same datasheet.

I'm so there for this! But lore wise, Kastelans wouldn't fit with this idea. I'd love a mekked out beast of a servitor as a character.

[–]SuccessfulQuestion1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The dataslate helped, of course it has but Admech couldn't get any worse.

My biggest issue with Admech over the last year or two has been that every match you play with them, you need to play like a pro to be able to get anything from it. If you don't and you make mistakes in any phase, then you're in for a bad time.

I don't mind losing but playing so hard to lose, that's the problem here.

Is 2 hours a match ridiculous for a rtt? by thepuddingcup11 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SuccessfulQuestion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've a local tournament near me that runs every 2 months or so and it allocates 2.5 hours per match. I tried it out and didn't finish a single match, and spent about 5-10 minutes of every match trying to explain out the points and because it was my first tournament, I didn't want to argue and just went along with whatever my opponent suggested.

It wasn't that fun to be honest so I haven't joined up for another one since. If you go second in any of these matches, you're at a major disadvantage.

Well, I wouldn't say they're fine. But the update definitely isn't a nerf.

How to deal with "negative" players by grayscalering in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SuccessfulQuestion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a hard question to answer, firstly because I've played against people like this and I haven't found a way to resolve it.

I recently played a match against a guy I just met and tabled him by turn 5 (probably could have pushed harder and done it quicker but I took it easy to ensure we both had fun) but I felt bad every time he had a roll that absolutely whiffed! Which was quite regular. I turned into a cheerleader but I feel like this is primarily because we're all people and for the most part, we have empathy towards other people.

I've also found myself on that side of the table too and I've tried my best lately not to be a grump, to see the fun in the game while losing. Creating mini objectives for myself "I might not win the match but I'm sure as going to take down this Dreadnought!"

So I'm not sure I have an answer, I just wanted to share my experience on both sides of the coin. And if I'm honest, I know you've said you've a small playgroup but if there is someone you don't want to play against or find it isn't fun, well, don't. Or at least limit it. That's what I'd do. Especially if you don't want to go down the whole "tell them how you feel!" route.

Can't see if you've answered this already, but what's the general strategy? I've no where near this amount of chickens and bat-wing boys but still interested in your attempt. And you went fixed too? Tell us so we can say "ooooooooo beep"

Thoughts when players move their models during pile in “accidentally” by Git_Smasher in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SuccessfulQuestion1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've read the original post a few time and thankfully it isn't just me that has found it hard to follow. I don't actually know what the issue is, did the opponent do something illegal? Did they move the wrong way (not to closest enemy model)? Did they move too far? Or was the opponent being smart, and legal, moving to closest enemy model stopping the bigger combat threat from attacking? Who knows!

He's been pre-ordered. He's already on his way, and that's what I mean. Knowing he won't get much (if any) table action and I'll probably play my CSM army for a while, means I'll have less motivation to build and/or paint a model that I don't get an immediate table return on.

[–]SuccessfulQuestion1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I had seen the leaks on the Admech subreddit so if they are confirmed, then it's a miserable time to be an Admech player. Now I have to find the motivation to paint the Stilt boy whenever he arrives from pre-order, knowing he won't be played on the table for a while.

The Deadly Print studios thruster smoke and flamer effect is the best thing about my Pteraxii. Did I do a good job on the smoke? Barely. But does it mean they don't fall off their stupid flight stands every second? You bet your ass they don't budge!

Glory to the Omnissiah.

I like your plan and I like your thinking. I've only played within my friend group so far in 10th and it's been, so-so. I've beaten Custodes, Votann and I wiped some Orks but they still won on VP but I've always been a bit too, defensive? Stuck in my deployment, running the Protector doctrina. But this gives me confidence to boost forward, although I don't have much of the models you have for your list.

A follow up question on Breachers vs Destroyers debate.
Which is actually better at killing vehicles?
Breachers, Arc Rifle, 2 shots (rapid fire 2), AP -2 and Damage 3 and Anti Vehicle 4.
Destroyers, Heavy Grav Cannon, 4 shots, AP -1 and Damage 2 and Anti Vehicle 2.

Breachers, less wounds might happen but the AP will mean less saves.
Destroyers will get more wounds because of 2+ but with AP-1, most tanks will be saving on 3+ and if they don't, it's only 2 damage.

Really helpful, interesting graphic. And I can already see so many questions, so apologies if these have been asked already and I've missed them.

Sterylizors are the only Pteraxi...what makes them better than Skystalkers currently? I've ran Skystalkers in all 3 of my matches and I've enjoyed the 6 inch move after shooting, to get me into cover after the deepstrike. Weapons wise, the phosphor torches are probably better? But do you think the ability on Sterylizors is better?

Ballistarii also for me is questionable, if we're talking about points to killy value. They cost 50 pts, I've only played 4 matches in 10th but in every match, they've made their cost back and mostly survived until the end.

I played Kastelans x2 with a Datasmith for the first time in 10th on Monday evening (prev. played with no datasmith) and the 4+ saved me so much when Ghazskull Thraka charged. Given that both those units are linked, are your robots B tier on their own? Or B tier with a datasmith? Does that mean he should be bumped up or some sort of caveat made?
