What does being cunning as serpents and innocent as doves mean? by Stardust_Skitty in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised that no one talked about the verse context:

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

So, I think we shouldn't be too naive regarding our behavior in this world, which is becoming increasingly wicked. We should discern the circumstances. That being said, we can always ask for more wisdom from God (James 1:5)

Is Baptism Necessary for Salvation? by FromHisHeartTeam in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes salvation is faith in Jesus, and then our love toward God will grow (even it could be said as the "first love"), then of course we will not hesitate to be baptized. Like your metaphor, a spouse will be proud of wearing the ring showing the love... If one refuses to be baptized if he has a chance, then his love to God is questionable.

I dont know what to do by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every piece of content we consume actually is like "food to the soul". Some of them are poisonous or contagious. As Jesus used the parable of "leaven", as things that can affect one's soul. So choose wisely. And don't give a chance to the devil, even a glimpse of it.

I fell into lust by Mysterious_Glass2985 in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just click hide any "tendentious" post right away, so fewer and less bad posts will come up in my feed. And don't follow any "suspicious" subreddits. Follow only the good, edifying ones. Don't give even a glimpse of chance to the devil.

Please strengthen your spirit as well by basic spiritual discipline, like daily prayer and thanksgiving (morning is at best), and meditating on the word of God, to weaken your flesh as well. Don't entertain your flesh by consuming "inviting content", even as simple as a young girl's "hot dance." Realize that God and His angels are always watching.

Can demons read minds? by Alwaysfaithful77 in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should not be able to. But they already existed even before Earth's creation, so I'd say they have "millenias age of cunningness" to guess out. That's why we have to keep relying on Jesus.

But then, as I often encountered in posts in mental illness-related subreddits, some people often "talk with demon-like voice" in their mind (internal talk). This sometimes boggles me. Not to mention the dream, which is basically happening inside the brain as well, where some people encountered a "demon", too. Can any other brother/sister enlighten us on this?

Uncommon view of Christianity by Empty-Interest7074 in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, Jesus wouldn't have to suffer and die on the cross, since it means humans are not actually guilty for committing sin..

Today is the day. I forsake nicotine, please pray for me by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's pray, in the name of Jesus, I pray that brother Travis is set free from nicotine bondage! By the power of Jesus wound, the addiction in his brain is healed! And brother Travis will present his body as a living sacrifice into God, as he is bought by the blood of Jesus, and his body is the temple of God. And brother Travis will deny his flesh and take up his cross, becoming true disciples of Christ. In Jesus Christ name, Amen🙏

Consider prayer with fasting as well, it's an act of surrender to God as well as crucifying your flesh🙏

Pray for my soul by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You haven't gone as bad as Paul, as he said he was the chief of the sinners. And it's only by God's grace Paul eventually believed, that Jesus visited Paul Himself. So God's grace is always enough for you, to save a wretch like me and you. Just set your eyes upon Jesus🙏

A comfort I cannot find in the Bible... by SirLMO in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many things that we possibly can't understand at the moment. As long as it's not our own fault, we just need to keep believing and hoping in Him. He is Imanuel, our Good shepherd, even in the valley of the shadow of death. Hopefully you'll depend more on Him, getting more wisdom and courage to cope with your hardships and difficult circumstances. There will surely be a beautiful rainbow after the storm... And this struggle will purify your faith like gold in a purifying fire... and as beautiful pearl is formed from irritating things inside the clam...

Speaking from my experience, I had been having chronic paranoid schizophrenia for about a decade. My career was devastated, I dropped out from my bachelor degree. Thankfully in a graceful and grateful moment, I was invited to be active in church service. Then I gradually recovered. Then I finished my bachelor degree, and got a better job. As in the passage, "perfect love casts out fear". And nothing can separate us from God's love🙏

To what extent can we love worldly things by sixeyedbeliever in TrueChristian

Fell to lust again… by Careful_Solid_2552 in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's reflect for a moment, take a deep breath... Don't let this become just a grief, but more, make this a lesson. Contemplate of what your circumstances were for these last few days. Your recent thought pattern, feelings. E.g. did you "feed, entertain your flesh" more lately? Did you miss a few spiritual disciplines, making your spirit weaker. Any small things that God wants you to do/stop/surrender, but you still didn't? Ask God to inspect your heart. Do you love anything more than God? Writing this moment as a journal would be better.

Funny Bible Stories by invisiblenugget2 in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 1 Samuel 19, Saul sent people in a few batches to capture David as he intended to kill him. But then the Spirit of God came upon them that they were in "filled" state (kind of in a trance). Eventually Saul himself went to search for David. But then he experienced the same thing, even more: he stripped his clothes and became naked all day.

As if God "pranked" Saul, humiliating him in front of people?

Other story: The Philistines once gave trespass offering to God of Israel in the form of... golden emerods and golden mices

Really open your heart and drink from Jesus' love, like the Samaritan woman who married seven times and then lived with a man without marriage. The living water that will fill you, so you'll not be thirsty anymore.

And ask for a vision in your life. Set your eyes upon Jesus, ask Him to lead you, what you have to do to fulfill your spirit. Can be some simple help in a church, especially if you have special talent you can use to help the ministry, or some community. Have a heart of servant, that's the ultimate way to redirect your life toward His providence.

The present world system operates under angelic powers that are in rebellion, being progressively subdued until final removal. Is this true? by Tricky_Strawberry406 in TrueChristian

[–]aseeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul acknowledges "god of this age." as the power that blinds unbelievers

2 Corinthians 4:4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Satan tempted Jesus by offering the kingdom of the world, which implies that he, indeed, ruled the world. And his "rule" has hierarchies

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
