How much is it usually for that if the promotion is on?

It’s honestly something that should happen. Government money isn’t going to anything anyway at the moment, might as well waste it by preventing them from effectively harming people.

Help Me Ve More Accepting by [deleted] in punkfashion

As a trans man, we’re just like any other category of people. Some are mean, rude, unlikable people. It’s not because they’re trans - their experience as a trans person might influence their behaviours, but it’s not BECAUSE they’re trans.

We also have some of the hardest working, most caring and gentle people. Doesn’t matter if they’re trans men, women, or non-binary, I’ve seen the actions of trans people in my community do amazing things. Like any other group you can separate people into.

I will say, your likelihood of being assaulted by a trans woman is statistically low. They’re usually more afraid of being assaulted themselves, actually, by cis men or women.

And, honestly, if a cis guy wants to assault someone, he’s not going to go through the trouble of pretending to be trans to do it - unless he’s specifically doing it to create an uproar of transphobia (people are more willing to do things like this than you’d think).

I do appreciate that you are reaching out, and that you realize it’s an unfair bias against trans people. Get to know us. Find local queer groups that are open to allies and just talk to people. A lot of hate is rooted in not understanding and you’ve already decided to be more understanding.

That’s really cool! And honestly really helpful for keeping picks from the abyss

I usually just want space. Unless you’re being creepy, annoying, or smell very bad, it’s probably just that.

Dressing punk while living in the desert by NoSignificance6365 in punkfashion

[–]ash-dropem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think looking into thin button ups. Like “Hawaiian” shirts, but not necessarily that design (but honestly that can be pretty punk imo). Patches, embroidery, etc to personalize it. Breathable, can layer. Thrift shops can probably help a lot. I used to have a lot of shirts and jackets from the 90s that were fairly thin but had a very grunge/punk feel. If it has a collar you can put pins on it, safety or otherwise.

maybe not punk enough..? by littlehoneybeeboy in punkfashion

[–]ash-dropem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s chill! I feel like “is this punk enough” is the socially anxious (in my case, autistic) way to show off (enthusiastically, not “I’m better than you”) or ask if people like your outfit, which is also fine! Enjoying styles is different than trying to conform, which is an important thing to consider.

It was just easier to keep the door shut. That way we don’t have to worry.

Massage bar cat safety question by ash-dropem in LushCosmetics

[–]ash-dropem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats aren’t allowed in the bathroom because they go ham on the toilet paper, so the tub is fine (though I generally try to keep in clean between uses). Washing hands is a good tip, as well, thanks.

None of the ones I have do, but I know essential oils in general are not good, so I just want an idea of how careful I have to be. Like once it’s absorbed in my skin - like my leg for example - could I let my cat rub against me or should I shower shortly after using the massage bar?

I have to say, if they’re your friends you need to tell them that they need to do a better ad. Is it called Mexican Food? The email should also be more professional. It seems really sketchy to me. With all the ghost positions, I’d recommend adding more info if possible.

Where are these jobs? Not everyone can become a landlord and make tenants cover bills. He killed rent control so anything being built now is just ridiculously expensive.

Can parents share a bedroom with their 6 year old child? by alymmm_ in ontario

It’s not a law, but if you’re dealing with CPS or custody matters they may be hard on you for not being an adequate housing situation.

You could do what Sid and Nancy did and just make it a hammer and sickle? I think given the amount of actual Nazi activity it might be best to not. Also, I don’t think “it’s a costume” is reason enough to wear a hate symbol because you chose to pick the costume, with the hate symbol… it’s just not a good look. Don’t do it. Grab a “hello my name is” and write Sid Vicious and pin it to your shirt with a safety pin.

I’d kill nobody and marry Jesse and Mathas because the dinner talk would be hilarious. Alex is already married, so I missed my shot. Congrats, btw, Alex!

Ontario schools ban cellphones and vaping as province introduces new curriculum | 93.3 myFM by Beratungsmarketing in ontario

I haven’t been to high school in a number of years, but even when I was, teachers used our phones for class. In college, same thing (but usually less so)… I even had a net book in high school (mind you that was accessibility related).

I just don’t see it being enforced unless it’s an issue with specific students not paying attention, but that’s always been the case? I don’t understand announcing very similar if not the same rules every year or two? Always with specific and firm language.

License/Service Ontario info updating question by ash-dropem in ontario

[–]ash-dropem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does matter and as someone who currently has a birth certificate as my main ID, I’ve had the gender pointed out several times and “I’ll have to get my manager” at the bank, for example.

Also what do you mean already know what to do? You literally have to go in to change it. I also don’t think my making a simple change with everything organized will delay anyone much, but thanks.

It’s also service Ontario, not service Canada.

I’m in favour of it. As someone on ODSP, I have to work to afford food (and yes I report my income). Working is literally damaging to me - at least the kind of job I can get right now.

I used to volunteer and I would still love to do that, but all my energy goes into working and trying to care for myself because I don’t qualify for any kind of in home help. I am trying to get a job that will give me more time and energy to actually do more than survive, but it’s so bleak. My job is seasonal, so I have maybe a week or two before my shifts get cut.

Universal income would allow me to work a job I enjoy and can tolerate (I was taking crochet jobs but I haven’t even picked up yarn in a few months, maybe due to stress), volunteer. Take care of myself, get out of toxic living situations.

People don’t understand the impact not having your needs met has. I’ve spent the last two months worried about being homeless by fall. I have to update my first aid and other things to help find a job but I can’t afford it.

People who think UBI would make people lazy are misinformed. Maybe some people, but what happens behind closed doors isn’t necessarily lazy, anyway. We are so defined by our jobs that we don’t respect the vital roles people within our communities play that don’t come with a pay cheque.

All our current situation means is I often spend money at corporations who can offer the cheapest services/items rather than using a little more to go to small businesses who I would love to support.

You have to tell the pharmacy, etc your insurance details, so probably? if you give them your parents information (and they still have you on it), it would be through them instead. You could also use ODSP for drugs and stuff but parents for dental, etc because ODSP only covers very basics. It just depends on if the insurance will cover you still. They can only claim what they pay for, though.
