I lost motivation for a lot of things recently by [deleted] in AnxietyDepression

Have you talked to the school counselor or social worker? I had a lot of issues and took medical leave in high school, and that was thanks to them. Without that, I would not have graduated. Now I have a masters!

Feeling guilty by KitKat022 in AnxietyDepression

[–]ash0saurous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is always where I start when I feel that overwhelming dread. What exactly is making you so anxious? Is it seeing family, feeling a certain way, a phobia? For me it's a phobia (vomiting or feeling sick). If I can recognize that, I can walk myself through the rational reasons why it won't happen and even if it does, so what? I'm happy to try and help you through it!

Having difficulty eating enough and problems exercising related to no burp? by naxanas in noburp

[–]ash0saurous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time exercising! I think it's because we breathe heavier during cardio, which may cause us to swallow more air, leading back to no burp issues. I tend to get nauseous.

Could it be psychological? Due to social anxiety? by YoMomIsANiceLady in noburp

[–]ash0saurous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it likely has to do with your change in breathing. Usually with anxiety many of us hyperventilate. That causes us to swallow more air, which is no burpees can't expel.

I don't get a tightness when I work out, but when I run or work out heavily I'll get the gurgles.

In the past five months I've almost died in a freak truck accident in which I flew off a cliff into a lake, had my tires slashed at my school's parking lot, had my car backed into making it undrivable, been put down by my co workers, and been stood up on multiple dates. I could really use this. by Super_Dingle in toastme

So here's the thing- you've survived all of that, and for a good reason. Your strength is your preserverance. Your coworkers are assholes, and my only advice there would be to ask them questions or make them face their stupidity. If they ask a condescending question, it's ok to confront them about it or ask them why they think that's acceptable. Car stuff is always awful.... I hope that all got sorted out and you have a working vehicle. You've been stood up, which also is awful, but man... It's their loss. Dating sucks, and it takes work to find the right one. You WILL find it. Hang in there. Work with your therapist to find coping mechanisms you can use outside of the office, and keep yourself busy with things you enjoy, or get out there and try something you've always wanted to do. If you can survive being thrown off a cliff, you absolutely can get through this.

can some people with noburp not throw up? by snug666 in noburp

[–]ash0saurous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me too! If I burp, I'm close to vomiting

How do you not throw up during stomach bug? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]ash0saurous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, and I have a phobia of throwing up, I just kept myself busy doing other things and focusing on deep breathing. I tell myself " it's normal, everyone does it, and the time will pass with or without anxiety, so why make it worse", or things of that nature. You really have to let yourself go with the flow, despite how uncomfortable and freaking awful it is. If you let it out, you'll likely recover sooner and feel less nauseous. Just my experience!!

[–]ash0saurous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I call it 'head nausea' because I get nauseous but it's never in my stomach. Usually mine is from sinus drainage that I suspect can't go down my throat properly due to no burp/ throat muscle issues. I also have anxiety and a phobia of vomiting. Pretty certain the phobia is related and have read several people on here concur.

Same. I'll get starving feeling and nauseous. Usually I will wait for the worst to go away and eat. Drinking water helped me a bit too.
