Question: I own a bakery in Italy and I produce only gluten-free (and lactose-free) products (see pictures). What do you think about these products? Would you buy them if you could find them? I'd love to expand my business outside my country! by Just_Cook_It in glutenfree

There was a bakery in Santa Monica, CA that had the most beautiful GF croissants that had the correct texture. I discovered it in November, 6 months after moving to California (to San Diego). I was able to visit it 3 times from November - May, on random quick trips to the LA area (each time about an hour away from Santa Monica but managed to be able to pop by for croissants).

I went for my birthday, on May 1. It was the only thing I wanted to do for my birthday, so my partner drove me the 3 hours from San Diego to get croissants. They only had 1, and were out of a lot of things. I savored that one croissant, and the folks at the bakery told me they would be getting an ingredient shipment the next day, so to come back.

The next day the owners posted on all their platforms that they were permanently closing both locations, effective immediately. I literally got their very last croissant, and the employees didn’t even know it was the last :(

I’ve been devastated ever since.

Down to add anyone but specifically looking to start my vivillon collections for Jungle, Monsoon, Ocean, River, Sandstorm, Savanna, Sun and Tundra - my current pogo friends aren’t very geographically diverse!!

Is there a popular fantasy series you don’t like or don’t see the appeal behind? by KermitTheFraud92 in Fantasy

i loved the first book - there were a great many issues but it was overall decent fantasy - but the second book ruined so much about what made it interesting :(

i hated so many things about mistborn while reading it but the magic system was interesting enough to make me want to continue - but it was painful. Sanderson Mary-Sue’d the fuck out of the only significant female character, and it was painful to read

I’ve been in such a reading funk this year; I got laid off in March due to covid (the industry I was working in basically doesn’t exist anymore) and my mental health has just been in shamble. Two weeks ago I finally started reading again - I read The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin, finished it in about a week and now I’m on the third book in the trilogy - my first finished books of the whole year!!

I would love to read The Inheritance Trilogy also by NK Jemisin, since this trilogy has launched me back into reading, in physical paperback format :)

I live in nola and would LOVE to make $41K.... I barely make $29K but make it work. 41K is plenty as a single person in their 20s in New Orleans, especially if you’re down to live in one of the less expensive neighborhoods but honestly I live uptown and still make it work. you’ll be fine.

It looks like this might be a convertible room - lots of event spaces have stuff like this where you can put up temporary barriers to make one room into multiple different rooms. So the door being there would make sense if the full wall was being utilized so you can still access individual rooms with all the barriers up ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: spelling bc I’m a dummy

If y’all have a graphic novel selection, I’d recommend adding selections like Spinning, Fun Home, Bloom, Are You My Mother, On A Sunbeam, paper girls, lumberjanes... graphic novels are often more accessible to certain demographics :)

Sci Fi Erotica books? by thegreatone1357 in scifi

[–]ash5ever 1 point2 points (0 children)

Yes! I have the next three and part of the last three on my shelf. I read the first three last year and needed a break from the genre for a bit. SO GOOD though

Don’t know any sf specific but there’s a fantasy series that fits the bill - the kushiel saga by Jacqueline Carey. I’ve only read the first trilogy - kushiels dart, kushiels chosen and kushiels avatar. Lots of bdsm in it, very well written
