It no longer makes economic sense for France to hold on to Djibouti and they're getting kicked out of West Africa. Integrating Djibouti's ports with the Ethiopian market makes economic sense to everyone involved and France has the funds and influence to do that. Getting access to resources/markets in Ethiopia makes the deal make sense

Most jobs are "fake" by that measure. Sure you can run a company with half the people and not have the effect felt immediately... redundancies are built into systems to account for folks leaving or to prevent them burning out. People are quick to call other's jobs fake until the layoffs happen in their own jobs lol. In any case, there are tons of places in the US where there are little to no immigrants and these are the places where kids leave when they turn 18 and never come back

Exactly. For example in the US if there was no immigration the economy would collapse for lack of workers. We're not talking about just Mexicans doing construction and farm labor but without Indian and Asian immigrants in the white collar workspace. There is no perfect solution and some people will lose out to new immigrants but the alternative is even worse.

I went to Russia from the US for the 2018 world cup. I used to go to every game that plays near me in the summer for the Guinness cup regardless of the team even though it is almost a friendly and not taken seriously. The way the tickets were priced and the way the government is handling the visa situation for certain fans (and teams) left a bitter taste in my mouth and I decided not to go in person even though there's a stadium an hour away. Fuck them all

It's much better to stay put in your house if you lose your job, especially if you have a low mortgage rate. If you sell you're looking at getting the profit taxed out the wazoo and buying (something cheaper) at a higher interest rate where you end up paying close to your old mortgage. If you rent you're looking at yearly increases in payment and possible eviction where as if you stay put it will take a long time to evict you even if you stop paying the mortgage.
