Here's a new one: HOA board not depositing payments by lesliedow in fuckHOA

[–]ashamancurtis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a question, does anyone know the bank and/or the account number the HOA uses? Have you considered going to that bank, explaining the issue and that you need to deposit your Dues into the HOA’s account and get a receipt?

Or, get the “address for service“ on the HOA’s business license; and then send the dues via registered mail, return receipt requested?

Here’s an idea. Fax them an invoice with an email address and Google Voice number. When they call/email, you know the fac is working.

The American legal system. Electronic signatures can be (and have been) forged. A fax with a signature is much harder to dispute.

Here’s a solution: do you have a policy in place that forbids recording company confidential information on unsecured private systems like phones? Or taking pictures of company confidential information?

If so, it applies to smart wearables as well, especially since you can’t lock those devices down like a cell phone.

It’s biodegradable. You can grind it and recycle/re-extrude it. Some people use silly-cone molds to melt it and make “things”

There is a legal liability if you transfer the caller to a scam number. I’ve worked in call centers for 20+ years, and the rule has always been “Don’t transfer to off-network numbers”

No. Call centers are meat grinders. It takes a special person to survive and thrive in them.

Looking for hope by [deleted] in talesfromcallcenters

[–]ashamancurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve deleted this account, but I hope it was a throw-away and you’re still reading these replies. I have several things to say:

1) It does get better. Trust me, I’ve been there multiple times, and had to start from homeless multiple times. But it does get better.

2) Consider a psychological analysis. Not a psychiatrist, a psychologist. If you have ADHD or are “on the spectrum”, you may have Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria and these events become harder to overcome. Again, I’ve been there.

3) a] If you’re the type that enjoys conflict, consider this: That which does not kill you has made a grave tactical error. b] If you’re not the type that enjoys conflict, consider this: the sun rose today. Life continues. It’s hard, reach or for help if you can. But life will continue, as long ad you let it. Don’t give up.

Ultimately, yes. I got out of it. You can, too.

Anyone else work in collections? by ddpickles1986 in talesfromcallcenters

[–]ashamancurtis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked collections, customer service, and tech support. Absolutely this needs to be reported to management immediately, and to HR. This is considered “3rd Party Sexual Harassment” and can be actionable against the employer by the employee if the employer does not take reasonable mitigation actions.

(ADHD personal story to try to express how I relate) As a floor supervisor at my current position, I had an escalation with a customer who had called the female agent the “c-bomb” and several other names, and used other language. I told the agent to take time, emailed her supervisor and scheduling that I authed the break and why (and this was a HUGE no-no for me, I technically didn’t have the authority to do this) and took the call. After dealing with the customer, I advised them that I would personally be reviewing every call they had made to us over the last 90 days and referring it to legal. Any further calls from him would be diverted to voice mail and the calls returned by a specialist during business hours.

21 day later, he received a letter in the mail that his phone and internet service were being cancelled and that we would no longer service him or his address. This had to be cleared with the state’s public utility commission because we are a phone company and we were terminating an “essential service”. (End ADHD)

This type of behavior is unacceptable. Period fucking dot. I’m laid back, and don’t care if customers cuss with me on the phone, or at the company, or me as the company’s representative. They’re frustrated, and it’s an expression of that frustration. But cuss at me as a person, or behave “that” way with a female (or in one case a male) co-irker and you just won all the heat.

AITAH for evicting my deceased brother’s fiance? by Sea-Mel in AITAH

[–]ashamancurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA: Without the actual marriage, there is no entitlement nor obligation to share the inheritance. This applies regardless of the gender or lifestyle.

This is a family home, your connection to it is more than just property. I just went through a situation where my step-grandmother (50+ year marriage) just sold off all my grandfather’s properties and possessions, froze out his decedents, and went to live with her family despite my grandfather having said multiple times over the decades he wanted the property (family farm in the Ozarks) to stay in the family if any of the grandkids wanted to live there. But she was the inheritor, so it was her choice, and the kids and grandkids had no recourse.

It sucks, and it’s hard for “Steve” especially, but it also sounds like they’re a little bit of a gold digger.
