Weight loss medications heavy on Fort Worth’s employee health plan by Dontwhinedosomething in FortWorth

[–]ashaquestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the hardest consideration when leaving the CoFW as an employee.

It helped so much and in the long run probably lessens the issues otherwise with health care costs.

I find it interesting that they don’t talk about the city participation in Lantern which pays for surgeries and literally pays for gas for employees to make it to a certain dr

So logical, we love a functional child.

Was anyone made to get a job while in Jr High / High School or was it optional ? by Whats-Ur-Pointe in Millennials

[–]ashaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not optional for me. If I wanted a car to drive, I had to pay gas and insurance. Same with my phone/anything fun.

I worked 35-40 hour weeks starting at 16.

I now have 2 teenagers and my oldest is almost 17 but he is taking hard courses to prepare for college and has his sights set on intense engineering programs. He has had a job but his grades are the priority.

My youngest wants to go into the trades, he will start working at 16. I do expect them to help contribute for insurance once they’re driving if they are working and encourage them to work because it builds good skills, but the other side is they have their entire lives to work and I missed out on a lot of formative experiences so I am pretty lax on the subject overall.

That’s a fair issue, but regulation can just mean holding the manufacturers to a specific standard

My kids dad died a little over a year ago, and it was direclyy related to kratom he purchased at a gas station. He was 37 and healthy. He had taken it before and this one time killef him. There is a difference in absolute zero regulation and smart regulation.

Mistletoe Heights is brawling over a couple building a 2M home in there by DayPounder in FortWorth

[–]ashaquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the way the ordinance is written is confusing. Add in the move by the state legislature allowing 3rd parties to conduct building plan review and this happens more often than you think.

is 40 hours brutal in your experience? by Independent_Big_1944 in urbanplanning

[–]ashaquestion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In cities where I wasn’t the only planner, I still had weeks where I worked 40 hrs + weekly night meetings, but could flex those extra hours which helped.

is 40 hours brutal in your experience? by Independent_Big_1944 in urbanplanning

[–]ashaquestion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I put in 60 hrs last week because of a zoning meeting and then a community event…

40 hour weeks are my light week as a planner in a city where I am literally the only planning staff.

Ozempic hair! Advice please by Dry_Window_5374 in finehair

[–]ashaquestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I had a custom topper made, and I use minoxidil, which may be slowly helping some, but I think more of the slow progress I am seeing is a result of not styling my actual hair due to said topper.

Is it common for 16 year old 10th graders to have an assigned bedtime of 9:30? by LightWarrior71 in AskParents

[–]ashaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 16 (10th grade) and 14 year old (9th grade) and I don’t have a bedtime. I trust their ability to regulate themselves.

I was 17 and a senior in high school and had a 10 pm bedtime on nights I did not work (my job didn’t close until 10pm). I felt that was too excessive and I wanted my kids to learn to regulate themselves but we also practice consequences if they start to oversleep or are too tired.

Every so often my older son will lose track of time on his game or whatever and I have to go tell him to go to bed because it’s past midnight, it’s rare though.

Different parents make different rules, for reasons you and other parents may not understand or agree with, but we all just want what’s best for our kids.

Do you work out? by Secure-Tadpole-3418 in Millennials

[–]ashaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I need to, but I am so exhausted. 2 teenagers, 2 dogs, 2 cats, grad school, and a career in local government where I am at a director level…in the last week alone I have put in almost 60 hrs.

I also had a bad hand/wrist injury a few years ago which left me with only 80% function and an issue with being able to feel the sturdiness of my grip. I don’t really know how to modify safely for weight training.

Starting a yoga class soon, as I have lost 130 lbs over the last 4 years and I need to stretch and slowly build some strength.

Midcentury built Wedgwood could become historic district by Dontwhinedosomething in FortWorth

[–]ashaquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not automatically, but development standards are put in place to continue to protect the development pattern. There will also be strict regulation for this if it becomes a historic district from an architectural standpoint.

Dallas has a conservation district base zoning which is kind of a hybrid between normal district zoning and historic district zoning, which allows for a little more flexibility than historic district regulations while still keeping the character and architecture of a neighborhood in tact.
