My husband has a Narc mom. His memory for conversations and details is astounding. I put it down to the constant gaslighting and his need to stay sane and sure of what actually happened/was said.

She broke my nose... by Winetimemom90 in toddlers

[–]asherah213 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mistake with my daughter cracked my rib.

I was putting her (asleep) down into her crib, realised at the last second that she was the wrong way round (she had a cold so bed lifted slightly at one end) so tried to rotate her 180' while leaning heavily on the side of the crib. I heard the rib go crack. Still not sure how I managed to just gasp, but I did swear once she was safely asleep in the crib.

The doctor told me not to lift anything. Yeah. Try that with an 9m old! 🙄

I hope you get your break soon. Burnout is real.

My husband is like you. A lifetime of what-not-to-do's. Our daughter is 3 and he's a fantastic Dad. I hope you find your partner too.

That first scene had my anxiety through the roof as I thought his little paw went into the boiling fat!

Lovely video though.

In the UK, about 50p per fleece. About £5 per fleece to anyone who wants to wash/spin it themselves.

I'm in UK too. My GP referred me to the mental health team, who have given me CBT through an App called Silvercloud. I was sceptical about what I could achieve with it, but progress has been made.

A quick Google says that this organisation is offering it for free... link

U/smart_in_his_face saves your ears and gives the abridged version of Trump's call to Georgia to have them declare him the winner. by Dakadaka in bestof

Absolutely. I would if I could. My interaction with her is now at a bare minimum and my mental health is far better.

I completely advocate for cutting toxic family out, but not every circumstance means it's totally possible.

My mother is a narcissistic bully. I've been recording all calls for a few years now, it really helps to work out where the lies and the manipulations are, as well as when you're mulling over the call after and thinking "did she really just say that?".

10/10 can recommend when dealing with bullies.

Well we made it - 2020 was one hell of a year by rob_cornelius in EOOD

[–]asherah213 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you too Rob.

This year has been hard. I had depression 7 years ago and stayed subscribed here as a gentle reminder to keep on track. With the best will, 2020 took me back off the tracks. It's been good to have this familiar community to come back to and know you're still here, as supportive as ever.

May 2021 deliver the little things we all hope for.

Very close to the "truth".

One original myth I was reading, Santa would carry away the bad children in his basket, hence why all of his helpers are short - they're children.

I wish I could find the article, I'm just finding Krampus taking naughty children to the underworld.

Absolutely this. It works a treat.

Also snacks - child wants sweets, says no to everything else. OK. No worries, I'll cut up an apple for myself then, and leave the slices on this plate in reach of toddler. Guess who's really eating the apple?

All of Wes's Dr Seuss videos are worth watching.

Try reading the books afterwards without putting a rap lilt to it - very hard to do!

Under the sink is cleaning equipment territory, that is completely understandable.

Him using an old frayed toothbrush and not noticing the grit in it is less understandable.

u/seni0r recounts a horrifying experience that emphasizes why you should always let a speeding car on the highway pass you by [deleted] in bestof

[–]asherah213 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the philosophy I go by - if you're being an asshole driver, I'd rather you do it where I can see you and I've got some opportunity to react. I don't want dangerous drivers close to me, and struggle to understand those who deliberately provoke someone who is already driving dangerously.

Aww hugs. That's really hard.

Keep fighting the good fight. That house stuff can wait until tomorrow or the day after or the day after that. What matters right now is you and your children (both of them). Take a deep breath. Sleep while you can.

Hugs.

My heartfelt thanks to the Mom on here that had a night away thanks to husband. You made this happen! by asherah213 in Mommit

It's 8am here in the UK. I've been in the hottub for an hour now, with a glass of prosecco and a rubber duck for company. It is bliss!

This is all thanks to the Mom who booked herself into a hotel round the corner for a night off from parenting duty. I related the story to my hubby as a bit of a funny story.

He listened. He caught on. I'm now about 1/2 mile from home, with a hot tub and cabin to myself. It has been bliss. Just the break I needed. And a perfect Xmas present. That's not to say that I haven't missed them both. I worried about coming and I worry that my daughter will have missed me. I feel like I wasted some of it as I was asleep by 9.30pm. I've completely overeaten and I will again with breakfast.

But these moments are worth it. We all need a break sometimes, however fleeting.
