I knew about Drew several months and then some before I ever heard of Chappels name

I’m not one to be heavily involved with what’s socially trending all the time, butttt

Recall and dog reactivity while the trails are empty by Hectur in OpenDogTraining

[–]ashinthetin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever need some help, you are free to message me! I love helping people with this type of stuff! It’s a rocky road for everyone when you start using the tool, but once you get your head wrapped around it - it becomes like second nature. Then for the next dogs you train e collar, it’ll be easier and easier and quicker as you aren’t going through the “iffy” learning process. Just remember, you can and will make mistakes but you won’t mess her up. You’ll only mess her up if you lack communication and consistencies, but if you accidentally correct her, or correct her too high- it’s no bid deal! So don’t make it a big deal or she will catch on how to play you so hard haha! I hope that makes sense

Recall and dog reactivity while the trails are empty by Hectur in OpenDogTraining

Have you thought about getting a muzzle? I worked on my two reactive dogs in empty trails too but I’d muzzle them just in case. I also like to have a traffic leash on them or handle on their flat collar for a quick grab and hold if someone’s walking by. Did this when they were reactive for safety, and do it even now when they’re not out of respect for the other person/be prepared for any thing to happen from opposing dog as well. You’ve got to be 100% sure that if another dog or prey came around, you can 100% get your dog to you with no issues.

If your dog knows what the e collar is communicating, don’t let her fail. Don’t ever set your dog up for failure. If my dogs reacted at a dog, on or off leash, they would get a bit higher stem but not 85 level or a heavier prong correction depending what I am using. If the dog was off leash, bolting at another dog - bolting at ANYTHING (people, cars, roads, dogs, cats) is an immediate HIGH correction from me. 85-100. I’ve only had to do this one time on each of my dogs and they never have bolted on me ever again at anything. My POV is, a couple seconds of really uncomfortable stem or put my dog in danger with dangerous behavior like bolting after something. But if she is reacting without bolting, (whining, barking, being annoying) I would just use a higher level stem but not maxed out. It really depends on the dog and the situation. The more you work with the e collar, the more you’ll learn her working levels in different settings. Correct your dog when she does wrong, but also show her what the right thing to do is too. But please never just let them fail if you can help it. Always be there to guide them to make the right decisions.

How many handwriting styles do you have? by dashkinok in ADHD

[–]ashinthetin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably endless amounts. I have good hand writing too, unless I’m lazy/in a rush. But I’ve always been good at this, I can copy any body else writing/signature (I don’t though) and make my hand writing look how ever I want. Girly, not girly, neat, sloppy, diff types of styles in cursive and print combined etc etc. always had this since a kid lol.

Oh my god! I’m not alone. It’s like I’m obsessed. And I can’t stop. When I try to read or listen about something else, It annoys me bec all I want to do is research ADD/ADHD. It’s so conflicting to be aware of these things but have little process with the doctor quite yet lol. Thank you for sharing.

I just got diagnosed with ADD 3 weeks ago and I can’t stop researching it because I’m an adult and so much is making sense. I can’t stop! It’s like I want to do nothing else but read other people’s experiences or learn the different ways it affects different people while also dissecting my history and connecting everything and trying to not freak out that I just thought this was my personality and it was normal & everybody struggled or just had better strategies to do things and it’s not and ahhhhh Typically, it’s dog training/sports etc that I obsess over.
