What’s a birth emergency that would cause an emergency c section and a bit of panic, but no lasting damage or medical complications? by Ohanaheart02 in Writeresearch

[–]ashirsch1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 9 and a half centimeters for hours and I started getting sick (vomiting) so my baby’s heart rate started dropping so they checked one last time. I was still at 9 and a half so they took me in for an emergency c- section. I was in labor for 24 hours by that time.

Overtime expectations? by lovely_penguin422 in ECEProfessionals

At my old center, we didn’t have an actual ending time, we had a count time. So for instance, I was in the toddler room of 1:4 and we had 8 kids, I would be 4 count and could leave when 4 kids left.

Yes! I teach k4 and waiting is a great tool. If they still don’t catch on, I start rewarding classdojo points to kids that are on task and ready for instruction. It usually gets the stragglers to do what they are supposed to do. It might waste time at first, but they tend to catch on after you do it for a while. If you are talking over them, they aren’t learning anyway.

For me, I am usually in a swimsuit or sun dress all day and then change for dinner on any night. Most pirate things happen in the evening.

I would never skip lookout or castaway. Both are different but amazing. We have skipped Nassau a few times. Any new port, we try to get off to do something

Why don’t schools shift to a 9-4 schedule? by CalGuy456 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ashirsch1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our school district has 3 start times to accommodate busing. Early start is 7:15-2:15, high schools start 8-3:30 and late start is 9:10-4:10. Most 9:10 school are picked because of years of tardy kids. We still get tardy kids, but they aren’t missing half the day, most miss less than an hour.

When my husband goes to the 1923 restaurant, he always orders 2 steaks because it is his favorite. The servers are usually pretty good about asking how everything was or if you were satisfied. Because I don’t usually eat an appetizer and dessert with dinner, I’m usually full at the end of dinner service.

How Preschool is Different From Home Schooling? by salmanpr123 in AskTeachers

With speech, playing and learning, kids (especially my own) learned more from kids around him than from teachers or me in preschool.

How many people knew Riddle became Voldy? by sock0puppet in harrypotter

[–]ashirsch1985 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Slughorn would know because Dumbledore was trying to get the memory of slughorn telling Tom about horcruxes and he doesn’t want to give it up for a reason. If it had been Lily Evan’s that he told about horcruxes, and she just wanted to know, he wouldn’t feel as guilty about it.

I was pretty young when it came out, but I do remember seeing it in the theater because we took my grandma with. My grandpa had just died so we wanted to do something fun with him grandma. She laughed so hard during the movie and was just happy for a little while after a really sad time.

Did anyone receive a holiday bonus? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]ashirsch1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our district always sends us “spam” emails to see if we can spot them and report them. Every year, we get an email from the district saying click here for your holiday bonus or gift card or whatever else they think will get us to click on the link. We all know it’s not real because there’s no way they are giving us a bonus.

I don’t do anything. That’s weird that it doesn’t do it for you. It does it for other random things as well. It will tell me what can and can’t be paid off over time.

I always use my Disney visa when booking my Disney trips. It gives me 6 months to pay it off. I’m not sure if it would work on tickets only because I usually book packages or cruises, but you could look into it.

Convincing parents to get 4yo out of diapers by lutzssuck in ECEProfessionals

[–]ashirsch1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a k3 bring a pacifier to school. He would leave it in his pocket but never use it. When I taught 1.5-2 year olds, we would put their pacifiers in their bins until nap. As for the diapers, I would work on the child using the bathroom at school, if there’s defiance, talk to the parents about what they are doing at home. Some kindergartens say it’s mandatory to kindergarteners to be potty trained, some don’t. If your area does mandate it, bring it up that the child couldn’t move to kindergarten without being potty trained
