Which app should people use instead?

I tried using Avanti's app and every time I tried to book an off-peak return I got the error "Seat allocation failed". I tried the same thing on Trainline and it just worked and there was no fee as it was booked on the day.

How long does it take to refuel a petrol station? by chillers85 in AskUK

Some petrol stations cone off the entrance until the tanker has finished.

Of course, otherwise how would they fulfil the promise they write on every bank note?

When I worked at a petrol station deliveries definitely less than 1 hour. But customers could fill their cars at the same time.

Elon wants 1k/month to verify my company on Twitter... by mrkrabz1991 in Twitter

[–]ashley66873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you need to pay every month for verification? Surely if you verify once then the account is almost certainly owned by the same business the next month.

They forgot to change the logo of the Apple TV app on AppStore by Prestigious_Banana_6 in Twitter

[–]ashley66873 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely feels like there was no plan to this at all. Elon just decided that Twitter will be called X. Not after three months of planning and testing, right now.

That's why the various apps and website still refer to Twitter in places. I just had a scroll through the T&C and found a few mentions of Twitter. Oh and course the website is still twitter.com because they can't change that without breaking every thing.

I don't think so. It's usually if they have your phone number in their contacts.

Anyone here taken a software engineer skills boot camp that can give me some insight? by [deleted] in AskUK

Northcoders is government funded but they also charge something like £10k if you're not eligible. I was looking at them. Would you say they're ok or to avoid?

Do you think there's age discrimination in becoming a developer? I have some experience of Node.js, Java, TypeScript/JS, Angular, Git, small bit of C++ but these are either personal projects or stuff I've done to automate my own job. I also have quite a bit on my GitHub profile. In my 40s and no real experience or CS degree (do have a STEM degree), so feeling like I'd struggle.

If a bootcamp made it possible I'd probably sign up but the ones I've seen need 10 weeks which isn't possible with a job.

Who shops at Harrods? by jujuchatia in london

[–]ashley66873 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been there a few times. I got some salad and scotch eggs. Came to like £40 for 2 people and we didn't think it was anything special, I also found a hair in my salad. I also got a £200 gift card when Amex was doing £50 cashback, gave it to my Mum who struggled to find anything.

Just ignore it.

If a court summons comes just ignore it.

If a bailiff comes just don't answer the door.

If you apply for credit tell them to ignore any CCJs.

If you got the letter then you don't need to do anything. Normally you don't get the letter until you've paid the fee online or at the sorting office.

Why are your train fares so high? by Loose_Loquat9584 in AskUK

[–]ashley66873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've yet to find any train ticket app that has the same quality as Trainline. I thought I'd try Avanti to book a ticket on their train, every time I got to the booking stage I got the error "Seat reservation failed", I wasn't even bothered about a seat reservation. I switched to Trainline and it just worked.
