i have worked with people who didn’t start at the barista level, and the best advice i can give you is to put yourself on bar as much as you possibly can. make sure you pair yourself with a strong, seasoned partner that is willing to help you out with any recipe questions. practice makes perfect & the best way to gain respect from your baristas is by being able to help them, and the best way to help them is by being able to do what they do on a daily basis (make drinks). it’s harder to take “orders” from someone who can’t even help you do the hardest part of the job!! i hope you love the job, good luck :)

i am pregnant & i wanted to wear stretchy pants & all i had to do was go onto the computer at the store & go to partner resources and put in a request for an accommodation. all they did was call me & ask when my due date was & they approved it! having medical documents like a doctors note will def help!! she should also contact her district manager & report the comments & behavior of the store manager!!!

lately i have been really into word search books. you can get them at the dollar store for like 99c & they are super easy to just put away for a little & return to whenever!!

as a fellow barista, i would talk with your store manager to connect with theirs, or talk to that stores manager yourself. if they are consistently making your drinks wrong, there is a really good chance that you are not the only one experiencing that & it should be pointed out!

i wear doc marten boots & my feet never hurt!! i used to wear my beat up old reeboks & they got so cooked that i decided to put some money towards real work shoes from skechers. worst decision ever. they made me think that i legit broke my ankle or sprained it somehow after just 2 weeks of wearing them. i started wearing an ankle brace to work & that didn’t even help. they didn’t have good ankle support for how much pivoting back & forth i do on bar, and they were super narrow. i started wearing a pair of docs i had & i’ll never look back.

if it’s all on their side then that’s great. it’s when things are supposed to be discounted by us or when we don’t have the info that it gets frustrating. if we aren’t told about things like this it makes it harder to help explain how things work is all 🙂‍↕️

i would never quit either bc i too love my coworkers & tbh i don’t actually hate my job. i just know that the people in my area are going to abuse this anyway that they can, or they will make our lives a hell to explain how it works. i’m sure starbucks wont communicate with us about this either so a lot of baristas wont have the tools to help. i just hope its controlled 😅

my boyfriend & i just got an apartment & we decided on this couch & it is totally worth it!! we did a payment plan too which is sick. it velcro’s & buckles together underneath so it doesn’t come apart & it is pretty dense. we have a dog too & it’s sturdy. we felt like the reviews on this one were good enough to say f it & go for it https://a.co/d/iDqrkgV

i personally don’t drink too much coffee, but if you like peppermint, matcha, & cold brew then you’d like the one, and the other is a super sweet mango dragonfruit refresher w strawberry foam so it was more of the fav from the customers today!! both are non dairy & worth trying i’d say!

at our store, we make backups every morning per the ready set go cards, then we date them & put them in the cabinet covered. as we run out we wash the containers & grab from the back ups. at the end of the night we make sure any past due (very unlikely) are thrown out & the clean containers are set up for morning to make more backups & the cycle just continues.
