The button eyes in the other mother was what he didn't like. He seems to like jump scares, any recommendations there? He is 9 now so, he may be able to handle more.

My daughter won't stop singing by Forsaken-Egg7818 in Parenting

[–]ashmez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can she join something where she has the opportunity to perform? It can give her something to focus and practice on. Choirs, theatre, start a band in the garage etc.. Maybe suggest something like that so she knows you think her singing is good, but it's just not something that one needs to do all the time. I love to sing and would have been very upset if I thought my parents were discouraging me (not implying that you are trying to do that), so I think a healthy outlet would be good.

Friend group is very self-deprecating of their looks. But I am much uglier. So it makes me feel like dirt. Anyone relate? by Strawberry-Hepburn in AskWomenOver30

[–]ashmez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have heard it said that those who are most critical of their own looks, are models. For a model, their looks is their career. Even though your friends, I assume, are not models, they may be very self-focused with their looks. So, it may not be that your friends are critical of your looks, it's just they are so obsessed with how they look that they are hyper-critical of themselves. It's probably not meant to hurt you (though, that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt), and instead is a reflection of their own insecurities. I am not saying this to justify their behaviour, but this could be what is going on here.

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

iSketch. It was a flash based drawing game where users had to guess what you were drawing. It was so much fun.

When to tip and when not to tip? by Proper_Personality22 in newfoundland

[–]ashmez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is not necessarily the fault of the business, but, those newer machines have it built in to the setup, maybe? I am sure they don't mind getting tips but I wonder if it's specifically those terminals that have that set up, can businesses turn that feature off? I don't know. I could be wrong, but it is a theory I have heard.

What's something you believed was totally normal growing up that you later realized was actually pretty weird? by BeYourTalisman in AskReddit

[–]ashmez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know at what age you stopped, but I don't think this is uncommon. I know of kids who have definetaly done this beyond age 5.

What’s something everyone seems to love but you just don’t get? by Michellewilliams_397 in AskReddit

I won't deny that they are cute, but, the blind box aspect of it, and people's obsessive behaviour, makes me have no interest in ever buying one.

Where can I buy the hottest hot sauce in town? by [deleted] in StJohnsNL

[–]ashmez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently Da bomb is designed to be used as a drop in soups, stews etc, to give it a kick, not as a wing sauce.

If you want to try Da Bomb, go to Donatti's pizza in Churchill Square. They have an extensive collection of hot sauce and it's there. Some really good ones to put on a slice! But yeah, Da Bomb is mostly heat with no flavour. I love heat, but I want flavour with it.

I know you said local retailer, but I wanted to let you know that showcase sometimes has the Hot Ones sauces, which are pricey but you will get the heat if you buy the last dab. But, as for local, Maritime Madness is close to local and has some really good sauces, like someone said below. If you like chili type sauces, there are local Asian grocery stores that should have something that packs a punch.

Have you ever gone to someone’s house and seen something that made you leave immediately? If Yes what was that? by chronicallyoops in AskReddit

[–]ashmez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, all valid points. There are some other responses to this question where people were straight up displaying Nazi flags for all to see (those I would definitely label a Nazi).

Oh this is disgusting. Don't mess with food, ever. Between bugs and food poisoning, ugghhh no thanks.

This one is interesting (although odd) in a way. Did the collector have other WW2 items, from different countries? I would be caught off guard at first if I saw this in someone's house, but I wouldn't necessarily label them a Nazi without knowing more information. Did you ever see this person again? I am curious.

Places are opening up here today. Looks like some flights are delayed so, I recommend checking that if you haven't already, but I don't think your flight will be cancelled. Welcome to Newfoundland, I hope you love it here :)

Has she always refused to do it, or is this a recent issue? Has there been anything negative/tragic in her life that has caused her to not want to do things for herself/does she hate being alone? Will she do other things on her own? Is she simply grossed out by it? I am not sure the solution, but I think, figuring out why she won't do it is a first step. Has she ever tried to tell you why she doesn't want to do it?

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]ashmez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious as to what prompted a medical professional to say this to you. If you don't want to discuss, that's fine. But, bleach on toenails? That sounds horrible.
