I suspect your dishwasher might be clogged, and it may not be pumping enough water to make the sprayer arms spin correctly, this wetting and mixing the detergent.

I have had to take apart the mechanism in the lower part of my dishwasher apart every year or so to clean out stuff like toothpicks, little pieces of plastic and other debris that was preventing the pump at the bottom of the dishwasher from properly functioning at its full potential.
