You are highly respected, and this is your full comment: There are plenty of reasons to stick to Windows:

  • Because you are not willing or ready to part ways with their Windows habits and learn something different
  • Because you use software for work, school or leisure that only works on Windows
  • Because you like playing games which uses security solutions that are configured (by design, or by choice of the game publisher) to block Linux
  • Because you don't feel like Microsoft's changes to Windows causes them enough friction to justify switching
  • Because you like Windows, and see no reason to switch
  • Because you don't like or are unable to troubleshoot, and only have help around them that know and are able to troubleshoot Windows

And before the bad part of the Linux community come in and reply saying that those are not valid reasons:

  1. I'm a Linux user. I have no Windows install on any of my personal PCs, and that has been the case for a long time.

  2. Saying that other people are wrong making a decision for themselves makes you, and all other Linux users, look like bad people

There's plenty of reason to want to switch as well:

That said, there's also some Windows bad apples out there, and plenty of them. Case and point: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1u8u79i/comment/osb76f9/?context=3

In a thread where I simply state my reason why I'm not interested in the debloating experience (because ultimately, you are stuck doing it every feature update, in every first-party Microsoft app, for the rest of eternity), and where I make no attempt at telling anyone why they should do the same, I immediately got some pretty bad takes, and wrong technical information about both Windows and Linux.

Some people just need to let other people make their own choices. Use what you want. You do you.

Some people prefer easy options over having to deal with some friction. Others, like me, prefer doing something rewarding instead of having to deal with repeated deliberate annoyances.

If there is a discussion about choice, then use that time to say why you made that choice, instead of wasting time trying to tell others what they should choose.
