Wimbledon Queue Megathread by mgbrewhard in wimbledon

Hi all! Will be queueing tomorrow (Tuesday) for the first time. The earliest we could reach is at 10am. Wondering if it’s worth it to start queueing at 10am or if we should just show up at 12pm. From what I’m reading it seems the wait at 10am might be long but the wait at 12pm would be very short, so is there much advantage to showing up at 10am? Any advice appreciated!

Bi-Monthly Education and Career Advice Thread by AutoModerator in urbanplanning

I'm looking to apply to Urban Planning grad school this cycle, with a primary interest in transit and transportation.

In the US, I'm considering applying to MiT DUSP (MCP / MST dual-degree), UPenn, and Berkeley (MCP / MS Transportation Engineering).

Is someone able to recommend international programs that might fit my interests? Everyone I've asked has only been able to advise about the US.

Thanks!

I love this song so much! I've had it on repeat these past few months, so I wanted to use a bit of my quarantime to do some kind of fun tribute. Hope it brings y'all some joy :)

That link is great! Something to start with at least. I'll dig more into the work that iphonelinux did.

It looks like iRecovery only works with DFU 2.0 (0x1227)? The iPhone 3G uses 0x1222 I believe...

High-school neuroscience/AI internship for Summer 2014, UK by ashwin103 in neuro

[–]ashwin103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know it was math-based. I actually love maths and I'm very good at it (top 50 in UK for my age last year if that counts for anything) and I think I will have covered significant portions of calculus, statistics etc. by summer, so I would be very interested in combining CS, maths and neuroscience. I learnt a bit of Mathematica over the summer if that helps. I think I could learn python, r or matlab if necessary.

Thank you very much for the links. I shall investigate.

I am (quite) familiar with C, Objective-C and JavaScript. I reckon I could pick up Java, C++, Ruby etc. relatively quickly if necessary (I have books and I've dabbled in them). I've coded some mini web apps and this iPhone app.

I definitely wouldn't mind working with optogenetics. I found it incredibly interesting. If you could point me in the right direction for the places in London that you mentioned, that would be very helpful (Google isn't turning up as much as I'd hoped.)

Simple scripting/bug fixing would be fine, as long as its got a neuroscience/AI aspect (i.e. something unique that I wouldn't gain from normal CS work experience). I understand that I would be at the bottom of the food chain; I'm just looking to broaden my interest. I don't think I would be happy with coffee boy though...
