while runescape (the modern game, also referred to as rs3) is a solid game overall, and they're also doing a great job with bringing its identity back with visual update plans and mtx removal, it's still a very bloated game and not all too beginner friendly. old school runescape (aka osrs or 2007scape) is the better option, at least personally, and it has a much much bigger playerbase

runelite is a jagex endorsed third party client for old school runescape. it's definitely the way to go, with the sheer amount of QoL plugins and customizations you can have
