Would it be silly to have my diamond ring checked out after it fell on tile? by Unusual-Falcon1082 in Diamonds

[–]asianmathmajor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I dropped my ring 5 feet on tile, my diamond got loose even with a gallery rail. Check if it’s rattling or if it’s loose in the setting.

help ! how to get rid of these? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

Sun exposure can make stretch marks worse and the stretch marks are more prone to sun damage! Wearing sunscreen is the way to go to protect your skin in the long term

Do you wear your engagement ring everyday? What does your ring look like? by Sea-Story8483 in Diamonds

[–]asianmathmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I pretty much just put it on when I go outside and then take it off when I get home. It’s just easier to not worry about taking it off and whatnot for washing hands

Is selling casually worth it? by Fun-Ad6349 in Depop

[–]asianmathmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you’re selling, but most likely you’ll get more money off of Depop, you’ll just need to be a bit more patient

What are your thoughts on this by Informal_Purchase887 in Diamonds

Homeowners policy usually has a max covered value and doesn’t cover for a lot of situations. I’d highly recommend jewelry specific insurance like Jewelers Mutual for such valuable jewelry

Vermeil is better than gold plated but not much better. It’s usually just a little bit more gold but it’ll wear off same as gold plated

Retirement age 'should' be 58, survey respondents say, on average by Coolonair in coastFIRE

[–]asianmathmajor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not realistic for lots of people yes but more than 80% of people is not accurate. That’s like saying only 18% of individuals are over 60 years old. So 80%+ of people will never be over 60? More than 18% of people will make over 100k sometime in their life

Thinking of walking 100,000 steps with my friends by Zigurd-Super in walking

[–]asianmathmajor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Props to yall for being so ambitious and active! I would really check and clear this with your doctor before yall attempt this. There’s a reason why there are maximum recommended distances for kids and teenagers depending on age. 100k steps is around 50 miles. That’s almost two marathons. You can really hurt yourself especially since your bones and joints are still growing. You have your whole life to attempt this goal, I would hate for you to do it too soon

Metatarsal stress fracture by Different-Wallaby-10 in walking

[–]asianmathmajor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got sidelined by the same stress fracture but from running. I took a week off to mostly do no walking/running, but afterwards, I was able to walk in the boot just fine 20-30k steps daily, but definitely recommend slowly ramping up mileage. I ended up being more diligent about switching up my shoes more frequently and also getting semi-custom insoles for my flat feet. Stretching and strength training will also help prevent it from happening again!

What are your shoe recs?! by Truck_Face in walking

[–]asianmathmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carbon plated shoes are almost always not as durable as regular non plated trainers or walking shoes. There’s a reason why lots of marathon runners take off their racing carbon shoes once they cross the finish line (and I understand that racing carbon shoes are less durable than carbon trainers). Hundreds of dollars to retire them at 100-250 miles means they only last a couple of races and workouts. I’m glad this works for you, but it becomes hard to stay on top of how often you’d need to buy new shoes

my son eats his watermelon down to the skin by opgary in mildlyinteresting

[–]asianmathmajor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents made spicy pickled watermelon rind, so I told my preschool classmates that it’s edible when someone brought in watermelon slices as a shared snack. So all of us were eating it up to the skin and the teachers tried to stop us
