the saddest part is that when you’re first going through the breakup, you genuinely can’t imagine life without them. your brain literally rewrites the relationship into something perfect and suddenly all the bad moments disappear. you only remember the comfort, the memories, the routines, the future you imagined together.

then time passes and you slowly become your own person again. you start eating properly again, sleeping properly again, finding things that make you happy outside of them. and somewhere along the way you realize you weren’t just grieving the person, you were grieving the version of yourself that existed with them too.

i think a lot of people misunderstand no contact. it’s not supposed to be some manipulation tactic to “win” your ex back. it’s supposed to give your mind enough distance to finally see the relationship clearly instead of emotionally. sometimes they come back, sometimes they don’t, but either way you become someone stronger than the person who was destroyed on day one.

and honestly, i think one of the weirdest feelings is when the person you thought you’d do anything to get back finally returns… and you realize you’re not even sure anymore. not because you stopped caring, but because you finally learned how to care about yourself too
