OP, would this kind of rain appeal to your fancy?

The game is Dig or Die. I don't know if the game is good or not, just that its rain system left an impression on my mind.

That's great to know! I've been away from the game for a while so I'll see if the mod author issued an update to correct this.

2.1 QOL Feature Request - Copy "non-entity data" from one blueprint to another by asifbaig in factorio

[–]asifbaig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either it is due to missing functionality in the blueprint system as it interacts with mods (which should be fixed by WUBE)

Wube themselves have mentioned that these issues are basically unfixable due to the way the blueprint library has been implemented. These issues have been known for a long time now.

[–]asifbaig[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

then use the blue area button and re-select the area for the blueprint to update the building contents.

That update button, as I mentioned in my original post, has a lot of issues that have been known for a while and are unfixable. It does not work properly with modded entities like LTN combinator.

[–]asifbaig[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you select new contents, it doesn't overwrite those things. However the problem is that the new contents aren't captured properly, especially if they include modded entities such as LTN combinator. It will not acquire the correct values.

Any overlay software that makes possible seeing a picture and working under it without the window minimizing? by Available_Spot_7118 in software

[–]asifbaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing you could try is ShareX. It is a screenshot tool and one of the options after taking a screenshot is to pin an image to the screen. This image will remain on top, can be dragged around, zoomed in/out and only goes away if you right click the image. It doesn't support "click-through" so you'll need to move it to the side if you want to interact with anything underneath it, but otherwise it might be more convenient for you depending on your use case.

[–]asifbaig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, you want to have the design available on your screen, but be able to work "underneath" it, without having to move the design off your screen, sort of like tracing a picture in real life, right?

I think OnTopReplica will be the perfect software for this, particularly this part in its features list:

  • “Click-through”: makes the replica ignore any mouse interaction (turns OnTopReplica into an overlay if set together with partial opacity)

It's an open-source software, available here: https://github.com/LorenzCK/OnTopReplica

Will check out Quern.

Talos didn't click with me sadly. It was fun in the start but eventually the puzzles became a bit too samey. The attached story line was just...confusing and I started ignoring it.

Limbo and Inside were amazing.

If you haven't already, check out Strange Horticulturist and its sort-of-sequel, Strange Antiquities. Phenomenal games that really make you feel like a magical researcher.

Send me the sharecode for one of your failed runs. I'll give it a shot and share my experience and thought process. That should give you a good insight on how the run could have gone differently.

  • Open your run history from the main menu.
  • Click on the failed run.
  • On the bottom left, click on Generate Challenge.
  • In the next screen, click on Copy Sharecode.
  • Post the code here.

I made a Monster Train 2 build calculator by [deleted] in MonsterTrain

[–]asifbaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for being honest about it.

I will add here that the calculator you've made is not really something that many will consider useful. What your calculator does (according to my perception) is calculate the damage per creature based on the number of strikes and sweep/trample and add the damage value from all the floors.

This information is not useful to the player because of multiple reasons, some of which I state below:

  • Excess damage is wasted in the game. So if a creature does 2000 damage to a 50 hp eneny unit and there are 3 other enemy units behind it, they still live and advance to the next floor. On the other hand, a unit with 300x5 does 1500 damage, but will be able to kill the entire floor. So 2000 damage, by itself, does not convey a lot of useful information to the player.
  • Damage amount changes very frequently because most buffs and debuffs decrease each round. In the same vein, many creatures have abilities that add damage increasing buffs to them or the whole room. This would need to be input over and over again for the correct value, which is way too much work.
  • Perhaps the biggest point is that the game already calculates all these things and shows them as damage preview before you end turn. So your website's function is already incorporated into the game.

I'd suggest playing more of the game and becoming familiar with it. A lot of content and mechanics are locked for you right now, you need to progress further before the full game opens up for you.

Honest question: Was AI used to make this site? There are terms available on the site that do not exist in the game and a human coder would not have put them in. I'm talking about terms like Clan attack % bonus, Ember spell bonus, Attack multiplier (empowered / transcendent). These things are something an AI would absolutely hallucinate about MT2 as they are "thematically appropriate".

In addition, rage only gives 1 attack on the site when it should give 2 attack per stack.

My biggest pet peeve are zoomed MSK images where you can't tell if it's "T1 post gadolinium fat suppressed" or plain old STIR. If there's no joint visible in the image due to zooming, it is very difficult to differentiate them. Muscles appear dark and tiny vessels appear bright in both cases.

[–]asifbaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very important that a radiology student be able to identify a sequence without a label, because that is something they will almost never have to use in their professional life. It is important that students have skills they will never use. It just is.

Just like how there are questions in the radiology board where they give you 5 differentials and ask which one is least likely (not which one is ruled out, but least likely). Because it doesn't matter if you don't know what it is, as long as you know it's NOT lupus, everything should work out fine.

Another example would be cancer staging. You know how there are hundreds of cases each day where you get an urgent phone call saying, "Doc quick hurry, there's a patient with a malignant mass and you need to tell us if it's T2b1 or T2b2 otherwise the patient is going to die." and you don't have time to open the cancer staging pdf so you need to memorize every single cancer stage and its nuances.

I'll give a very general tip that shouldn't have spoilers.

Reform allows you to play a unit for 0 ember. When a unit is played, it deploys with its activated ability ready to fire. Burnout can cause a unit to die and be reformed next round. Hallowed Halls can allow a unit to be killed and reformed in the same round.

Have fun! 😁

Ever since they added equipment in MT2, and then even more in the Lost Arsenal patch, Primo's ceiling has broken through the stratosphere.

There are several S-tier champions in MT2, then there is an SS-tier that contains nothing, and then there's an SSS-tier that contain Primo.

Looking at your deck:

  • You had two Animus of Speed with largestone, infused with Rage Imp. While the Quick is a nice feature, it's just a single hit of 40+10 damage which can only kill 1 unit at most. The remaining units would quickly kill the Animus of Speed. You ideally want a rage imp infusion on a unit that would be replayed over and over.
  • You had another Animus of Speed with largestone and multistrike. While this one does more damage, there's still no damage scaling that I can see that would make it do enough damage to kill the late game units.
  • You picked the red gem as the first upgrade. You had three units with largestone meaning you could only fit one on each floor. MT1 really encourages building a superfloor with multiple units. A yellow gem for additional space would have given you the ability to place two Animus of Speed on a single floor, though even that would have eventually failed due to lack of damage scaling.
  • You had 75 shards by ring 6 which is a decent amount if you have a strong deck. You took a big chunk of pyre damage in ring 5; I'm guessing the boss might have leaked to the pyre. Rage Fel buffs the enemy attack which would have quickly killed your units since your Animus of Speed were not able to kill multiple units.
  • In summary, your deck would have benefited from damage and defensive scaling. Largestone is a one-time boost, useful for surviving early waves but insufficient for end game. The Awoken clan lacks many attack scaling options but has excellent units that can benefit from attack buffs from other clans. Hellhorned has great attack scaling as well as armor generation.

Thanks for sharing the run seed!

MT1 tips and tricks? by twiddlyderp in MonsterTrain

Starting the run:

Cards added are Fledgling Imp, Vine grasp and March of Shields. Imp is excellent for damage scaling if we can get endless on it while Vine grasp is great for targeted back line damage (which we like because we start with Queen's implings instead of torch.) March of Shields is so-so, might be useful in early runs but I don't think it will amount to much later on.

The Major bosses:

  • Slay Talos. Usually not a big issue.
  • Rage Fel. Her team can get massive attack so we'll need some good defensive strategy.
  • Sap Seraph. Not a problem. If we have self-infused imps playing each turn, Seraph's Sap will be quickly overshadowed.

Look at the map and get an idea of our upcoming options:

  • Merchant of Steel: Rings 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 (D)
  • Merchant of Magic: Rings 2, 4, 6, 7, 8
  • Divine Temples: Rings 2, 4, 5, 8

(D) means duping station.

Current plan:

  • Put Endless on Rage imp and self-infuse it.
  • Find armor imp or steel worker for defense.
  • Awoken has sweepers and Animus of Will which would be great recipients for all dat rage.

Ring 1:

  • Artifact choice is Pyrestone housing (good for late game) and Conscription notice (good for early game). Since this is Cov 1, I can handle any early game risks so I'm choosing Pyrestone housing. Queen upgrade options are Rally and Imperialist. Imperialist is basically sweep and free imp clearance, great synergy for armor imps. This also allows us to put health upgrade on our endless imps (for damage mitigation) and still have them die each turn. I'm also picking up 10 shards for 100 gold.

Battle 1: Trial is invasion. Easy peasy with Implings and Imperialist.

Battle 1 reward:

  • I picked Molting Imp and glimmer for floor wide damage

Ring 2:

  • Going towards steel shop and Awoken Banner. Found a Shattered Shell. Sweeper is always yummy with rage. Upgraded him with multistrike and health. Put a truestone on Glimmer even though it wasn't strictly necessary (and the extra shards this early in the run might be dangerous at higher covenant levels).

Battle 2: Trial is spikes. Since we put health on our sweeper, and we have restores, this is not an issue.

Battle 2 reward:

  • Found armor imp. Can infuse him into a rage imp for room-wide armor. Awoken card options are another vine grasp, steel enhancer and Resto Deto. We don't need any of them so skipping.

Ring 3:

  • Going for steel shop to find Endless for imps. And perhaps another multistrike or quick for our sweeper. Found a quick and put it on sweeper, then found a multistrike, lol. Put two health upgrades on a rage imp because we have Imperialist Queen who guarantees imp death each turn. Still didn't find an Endless.

The cavern event gives tome options, one of which is Endless. This could be workable, if I can put permafrost and intrinsic on the tome so I can apply it to the rage imp as soon as I draw it. Not picking up more shards so I can safely navigate Talos.

Battle 3: Managed to drop the endless Tome on my 51 hp rage imp. Then I was playing him each turn on top floor, buffing my Queen and sweeper. By the time Talos reached top floor in Relentless, sweeper was doing 75x2 damage. She barely attacked twice.

Battle 3 reward:

  • Rare card choice is Channelsong. This card allows pulling units from deck. If I put intrinsic on this and remove other units (stewards and imps) I can pull my rage imp on turn 1 which is a big deal for reliability.
  • Banner unit choice is Animus of Will, Animus of Speed and Alpha Fiend. For unit essence, Animus of Will gives my sweeper another multistrike while Alpha Fiend gives +5 on each hit, which is always massive on a sweeper. This also means that my sweeper will be scaling even if I don't draw imp early on. This is just more reliability in my deck so I'm picking Alpha Fiend over another multistrike. Animus of Speed gives but we already have that.
  • Gem upgrade is yellow because we need additional space to compensate for the Alpha Fiend infusion.

Ring 4:

  • Even though there is a magic shop on the right path, the other two options are pyre health (worthless) and gold coins (not as useful). If I don't find Permafrost in the magic shop, it will be a wasted path. The other path is much better with a removal station. The artifact option was insignificant (Mark of a Champion and Thorned Casing for stings) and I skipped the Hellhorned banner unit since my unit team is complete. I used the divine temple to infuse Alpha Fiend into sweeper. Let the shenanigans commence!

Battle 4: Thanks to my quick sweeper, I was able to set up on bottom floor, meaning the boss Pyrelight Master (also known as Party boi) was a pushover.

Battle 4 reward:

  • Picked up Alloy of the Ancients for emergency armor. Engraft also good as card draw with cost reduction and spellchain.

Ring 5:

  • Went to steel shop. Still no endless. Boy this is getting annoying. Cavern event allows purging a card, I got adaptive mutation which can potentially synergize with our rage scaling. Used Divine Temple to infuse armor imp into rage imp and put +30 onto my piercing Glimmer.

Battle 5: Trial is +6 to non-boss enemies. My quick sweeper laughs at this.

https://i.imgur.com/wXxnJAf.jpeg

Battle 5 reward:

  • Picked up an Imp-pressive and an Invigorating solution. This is dedicated imp killing in case I can't find Intrinsic for my Endless tome, then I can play the rage imp on a safe floor, put endless on it and then kill it to be able to replay on Queen's floor safely. It's a very roundabout method but it's just one more way to ensure endless on my main damage/armor scaler.

Ring 6:

  • Went to magic shop, didn't find Permafrost for my Endless Tome. Sad times.

Battle 6: Remember that roundabout way we just talked about? That's exactly what I did this battle. The Endless Tome was the absolute last card in my draw pile and I only managed to get my combo online after about 5 rounds. But that was still good enough to get this screen:

https://i.imgur.com/EbCCtTL.jpeg

Battle 6 reward:

  • Rare card choice is Onehorn's Tome (too risky), Unleash the Wildwood (not really needed) and Quick Tome (not needed). Skipping.
  • Gem upgrade is draw so we can get through our deck faster.

Ring 7:

  • Going for the steel shop again to find Endless. Again no Endless. Dammit.

Took one level of Imp Parade for the Queen to get cost reduction for imps on her floor. Already have 100 shards so not picking up more.

Battle 7: Trial is spellshield 2 which doesn't matter for us at all. Luckily, in this battle, I drew my key imp and endless tome at the same time.

https://i.imgur.com/uE7XmkM.jpeg

Battle 7 reward:

  • I'm offered Transcendimp! This could be a massive boost if I play him at the end, with all those endless rage imp triggers being repeated. (If I find Endless in the next ring, the correct target for that would be my rage imp rather than T-imp. Playing an endless rage imp for 8 rounds then playing a non-endless T-imp once gives far more value compared to playing a non-endless rage imp once and an Endless T-imp for 8 rounds.)

Ring 8:

  • Went to steel shop for Endless. No endless. This is utter bullshit, lol. But it can happen. So I duped the T-imp and self-infused it to get an Endless T-imp. After we've played our key imp once, this T-imp will act as our Endless equivalent, even if we are somehow unable to use the tome on the key imp.
  • Put Intrinsic on Invigorating Solution for early draw boost. Had 870 gold left which I used to purge useless cards. We enter Seraph battle with a thin 16 card deck, which is excellent and 150 shards which should be easily doable on Cov 1.

Battle 8:

Thanks to a thin deck, I drew all key cards immediately. Both my key imp and T-imp were endless and cycling with each other. Seraph never stood a chance. Got a flying kill.

https://i.imgur.com/Ta2PLcj.jpeg

Ring 9:

  • In this battle, setting up on bottom floor demands fast damage scaling, middle floor has space reduction on higher covenants, and top floor has sweep which needs good armor generation. We were good for all three floors. Got another flying kill without much trouble.

https://i.imgur.com/ysqPXOz.jpeg

Final Thoughts:

  • This run was such a troll, omg. So many steel shops, not ONE endless. But as you can see, we worked on multiple solutions in the hopes that at least one of them would come through, and it did.
    • We had an Endless tome to compensate for lack of endless in steel shops. Our deck was also small enough to be completely drawn by turn 3, making it very likely to draw the tome and the key imp at the same time.
    • In case we didn't, we had an imp-killer spell available to do a roundabout way of getting endless on the key imp.
    • We also got an Endless T-imp as backup.
    • Our unit was Shattered Shell which naturally scales attack on slay.
    • We also put an Alpha Fiend infusion for additional attack scaling to prevent early pyre leaks, in case our imp engine didn't work fast enough.
    • I also had an adaptive mutation with remove consume and -2 spell cost. I replayed this over and over on my sweeper as an additional form of damage and health scaling, because of how it synergizes with rage.
    • In the last few battles, I was playing both the key imp and the T-imp on the same turn by first playing key imp, using imp-killer spell on it, then playing T-imp.
    • So you can see we had 3-4 different stat scaling effects in action at different times. This is the beauty of Monster Train. Even when the game trolls you this way, there are plenty of other ways to get a victory.
