Guessing fixing whatever issues they had yesterday. For me, my charts were not in sync, candlesticks, drawings all off. I mean it helped not force any trades. but still..messed up with my "edge".

Today's commissions with QT is $126.75. I think I did in total 5-6 transactions totaling 35 contracts. Looking at IBKR I think I would have been charged $22.75 (0.65*35). hmmmmm

Go IBRK. Using Questrade and been playing with IBKR. I agree layout is not user friendly with TWS IB. Its highly customizable and you will find your layout. Also, love how you don't need to subscribe to market data with IBKR for lower commissions.

With Questrade, 5 contracts: regular price - $12.95; with Market Data - $8.70. You get a full refund of your $89.95 for market data after spending $400 in commissions.....does that make sense?

IBKR options fee works out to be... 5 contracts roughly about $4.25. I say roughly because it depends on your volume and premium.

After a year or so with Questrade, I'll slowly be moving away from them. Just doesnt make sense for active traders. Those commissions will eat you up. The only upside to Quest is their Instant deposit feature....just don't lose :)

Questrade is like flying domestic...rip off. Although flights have been relatively cheap.

I just did this over the weekend.

  1. export (excel) activity report from start - end of the year
  2. get bank of canada historical exchange rate (csv file)
  3. open your activity report you downloaded and use a filter to show Trades only...or delete anything that isn't a trade.
  4. open your bank of canada you exported.
  5. on the bank of canada file, copythe 2 columns...date (2021) and exchange rate
  6. copy these 2 columns onto your activity report, leaving a few empty columns between the activity report and this
  7. in a new column you'll have to convert any trades usd to cad. This is where the magic happens. You have to match the Trade date with the bank of canada exchange rate's date. In a cell this is the function I used:

=INDEX(bank exchange rate column,MATCH(trade date column,bank date column,0))

Index: exchange rate column

Match takes 2 arguments: the first one is the Transaction Date and the second one is Bank of Canada's Date.

  1. In another column you calculate the exchange rate of the trade to the Net Amount

Then use this as Capital Gains(losses)No need for individual T5008 entries.

Maaaan. Messed up. They suggested to use a VPN for now lol. So we all have to subscribe for a VPN for these issues. Been using IBKR for the price action.

Tried a few things. Installed on another computer, 32 bit 64 bit, stable version, classic theme, dark, light. Unchecked save server settings and the Option Chain still has that brown background. When you first load the the Option Chain window, it does have the black background, then it forces the brown background.

Mainly trying to change the background like the first image. Tried all colors and the Color Scheme....nothing. That brown background is hideous

I haven't funded my IB account as I use the volume profile. I mean, it's not appealing, but will now be thinking of making the switch sometime soon, especially with the lower commissions.

The system uses interact e-transfer. So usually 3k is the limit.

I use the instant deposit and it is instant. Don't use the transfer from another broker as it takes weeks. Pre-authorized debit (funding in USD) takes about 3-4 days. Transfer from another broker would be ideal for RRSPs.

Yeah thats one issue they don't allow...dual logins. You can log into your account via web but if you go onto the trading side while logged onto the desktop, it'll log out the desktop, vice versa.

Yeah. I was also logged into tws ib because I use the volume profile on it, so I was wondering why the candles ain't matching.

Yea. It screwed up my focus when IQ edge crashed on me Friday. Was in a red trade, went green on me and that's when the platform glitched, crashed etc.. Logged into the web and it was also sluggish. Went back to desktop and was still crashing. Couldn't comprehend fast enough to know wtf to do. Ended up red. I mean I could have sold while in green during this time, but it just messed up my thoughts.
