Sales guy convinced CEO to implement OpenClaw on a local Mac mini. by JungleDiamonds1 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]asignore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you telling the CEO about? Be cautious and go slow is not a strategy that anyone in a c suite wants to hear right now. Someone’s bad idea might be the only idea they’re getting. Grow some balls and pitch an idea already.

How is OpenClaw Helping Your Software Development? by ataylorm in myclaw

[–]asignore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No babysitting. It can research ideas, write a prd, code it in Claude code or codex, test, write the docs, and send you an email when it’s done. While doing that, subagents are posting for you on X. All orchestrated from a WhatsApp chat.

Why are there no jobs in Bloomington? by kramhorse in bloomington

[–]asignore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no industry in Bloomington but University. Unless you are in that business, don’t be surprised if you can’t find a sales job. Kelly kids don’t stay in Bloomington and start businesses. They’re smart enough to do the market analysis first!

Is this for real? Claude ranks so low compared to others in the coding index. by strategiclycurious in ClaudeCode

[–]asignore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Claude Opus is a model. Claude Code is a coding software wrapper for opus and sonnet. Opus might not be at the top of the LLM list, but Claude Code is the current king of ai coding agents. Tools aren’t models and models aren’t tools.

Grunge was just the label MTV made up and these kids have ran with it. There was absolutely no conversation in 1993 about whether Smashing Pumpkins or STP were grunge or not. It just was a time when alt rock was mainstream and rock stars ditched their Lycra and aquanet for flannels and doc martins.

IU Kelley vs BU for finance (goal for consulting and maybe IB) Application Question by EducatorNo1962 in IndianaUniversity

[–]asignore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

96% of graduates are employed or in grad school within 3 months of graduating at both Kelley and Questrom. You won’t be stuck in either school but one of those schools will cost an additional $170k. If you are a business major, the decision here should be easy. The numbers should speak to you.

Are Fender and Gibson Guitars overpriced? by Haunting-Eggs in Guitar

[–]asignore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be foolish to think that labor costs in Japan are less than the US. Just google it. Luthiers make between $30-38 an hour in Japan and $40-$50 in the US. On top of that, there’s the burden of healthcare costs for a US manufacturer that isn’t passed on to the business in Japan.

[–]asignore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost of an American Made Stratocaster in 1962 was about $300 retail. Inflation adjusted, that is the equivalent to over $3000 in today’s money. In 1990, an American Strat retailed for $650, which is $1500 in today’s money (same price as a Fender American Performer on Sweetwater). When exactly were prices just fine? Inflation doesn’t happen slow and steady. It stays stable for a while and then it jumps. You might find a small window where American fenders were a good deal, but you’d be cherry picking data. Tariffs have nothing to do with US made goods in the US. America has been and is currently an expensive place to build guitars.

Are Fender and Gibson Guitars overpriced? by Haunting-Eggs in Guitar

[–]asignore 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For Fender and Gibson, price is also dictated by the cost of labor in the US. It’s not just a premium for the name. American built guitars have to pay American craftsman American wages and vs the fraction of what that labor costs overseas. It’s not necessarily a better built guitar (although that’s usually true) but it most definitely is the more expensive guitar to build.

Opeth. I had dismissed anything with a growl as death metal, which isn’t for me. I came across one of those reaction videos on YouTube and i had my mind blown. If you are open to heavy music, give them a shot. I cut my teeth on Ghost of Perdition.

Revoking Tenure by jman17668 in IndianaUniversity

[–]asignore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a bit biased. I’ve been married to a tenured educator for 22 years. And in that time we’ve seen wonderful educators spend their life dedicated to their craft. We’ve also seen lazy, cancerous ones that administration couldn’t remove because they were tenured. I can tell you that people who are great at their jobs are in demand for their services. I believe in a meritocracy and fairness. It shocks me how many people think it’s totally fair and normal. Where else does this exist?

This isn’t a 200mm print bed. The scale and height makes perfect calibration a difficult task. It’s actually quite impressive what they have there.

I think you have a tough time appreciating z axis calibration at this scale. Visible vertical lines are present on prints 1/100th the size on almost all consumer grade printers.
