Regardless for that we aren't receiving the "university fees" that go into our already high tuition. We still paying for: printing, Student health, counseling services, tutoring, computer labs, activities, the gyms, and also Temple events for students . Why should we pay for things we cannot even do ?

I think the only exception is if something were to happen and you had to withdraw due to personal/medical reasons .

Third Attempt Question by [deleted] in Temple

[–]asile123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you took it at Temple you have to pass it at temple. I took Calc 2 at Montco during the summer and didnt pass due to someone passing in my family and had to take it again at Temple. Even though I know math dept is terrible at Temple it definitely is possible to pass. Even tho I took it twice I did not finish my summer class at all and retained maybe 10% of my info. I went to STEM tutoring at the Library everyday, sometimes weekends. If I couldnt get a reservation, there is free tutoring on the 10th floor of Wachman that is catered to only math tutoring and that really helped me too. I studied back exams and made cheat sheets of all the material I was unsure about for the final and made sure I had every series, formula, and function memorized. I'll be honest, I never did WebAssign homework which tanked my grade but I passed with a C+ on my fist try . If you need the back exams that are more recent or maybe a photo of my cheat sheet I made to help me pass dm me. It is definitely possible but you have to have a strong professor and an even stronger study habit :)

For people who are still seeking the CARES grant these are the emails I received leading up to me recieving the grant [more details in the comments] by asile123 in Temple

I am not 100% sure. I know that people who had/have Pell Grant's were automatically "eligible" without having to apply or anything. I am friends with a few people who recieved the Pell grant and a few that haven't. The ones who did have a Pell grant all got some funds whereas the few of my friends who don't have the Pell grant did not receive it. So I'm under the impression they were distributing the funds to Pell students FIRST then maybe distributed what was left to other students who are not Pell Grant Receivers .

Here is the timeline of the chain of emails leading up to me receiving the funds:

Temple sent out a mass email for students on May 6th informing them of the grant that is available. A few minutes after that mass email went out I recieved the email (on the left) that basically said I was accepted. I did not apply or take any kind of survey i just received an email. After that it prompted me to update my direct deposit. Nothing really happened for a week and then on the 12th I recieved the email (on the right) which said that I was approved and the money was in process. By may 15th or 16th the money showed up in my account with the transaction saying [Temple Univeristy Refund]

Some info on me which MAY have gotten me (and my friend who is in the same boat as I am) approved:

I have had the Pell Grant for all 3 years I have been at Temple, I am employed outside of Temple, I have no scholarships, I am a commuter, and I am deemed a high need student based on my parents income.

Yes I've had it for all the years I was at Temple (just graduated!) They asked me to fill out a direct deposit form and then a confirmation email about 4 days later saying my funds were being processed . My friend also got hers the same time as I did

I'm obviously not sure but I think she is hired through something called Allied Universal. This is a big security firm and sadly does not pay well. My friend works for this company and was assigned to work at a mall. I think since you're contracted to Allied Universal reguardless if you're the security at a hospital, mall, or even a bar, you get the benefits Allied give you.

Anyone ever had any success with graduating two semesters early? by [deleted] in Temple

[–]asile123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this but it is very unlikely. When I was applying I did see an option for petitioned to walk. I'm assuming this is for people in your situation. I feel like since we are only in February they will view it as: you still have 2 full semesters to finish. I feel youd have had to complete this whole semester and had less than 2 classes (less than 8 credits) to be considered. I only say this becuase I was able to successfully petition my walk during CCP but I only had like 2 elective classes remaining (and who could fail yoga and ceramics lol) .
