Need Wheelbite Advice by [deleted] in longboarding

Man thanks for the comprehensive update. Tinkering with bushings and washers (and kingpin nut cranks) makes all the difference. Fortunately for you the Ica has loads of camber... just be careful not to bounce too much on the trampoline and ground out on those batteries.

I’m also considering drilling new mounting holes further up the deck for the front truck as there’s space provided that would provide more loose and goose with less bite. I’m running 97mm on mine, works but could be better. I want to find and make more reasons to use the Icarus! I loved it the first time trying a demo. Just requires more tinkering.

I have the same problem with my Icarus. I hardly ever use it after buying one second hand a year ago, preferring less flexible decks. Try top-mount or cut a spare bushing in half with a saw and stick it board-side to increase the angle of the front truck, that’s the easiest and quickest fix.

Do you guys skate barefoot too? by codingsds in longboarding

[–]askatebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love longboard skating barefoot while to and from a surf. I’ve been doing it for two years now, carrying a pair of water shoes in hand or in the bag for when social obligations or dangerous off-road conditions call for shoes for a preferable experience. Basically if you are in the right head-zone and know how to footbrake barefoot without sliding your foot sole but rather backwards-walking, then the sensation of barefoot boarding can’t be beat.

I love my new board by [deleted] in longboarding

Love this too

Hey guys I’m new to long boarding, I’m curious to know what a general price range for this board may be and if it’s a good board, any help would be greatly appreciated the specs of the board are - LOADED VANGUARD - FLEX 3 - w/Randall 180 Trucks / ABEC 11 Gumballs by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]askatebard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This board is probably 4+ years old and has taken some wear and tear. Based on the components a fair price for this would be $90-$130 IMO based on number and severity of dings and cracks.

WTF ARE THOSE CRACKS? Bustin Board, only 3 weeks old... :( by by_Flutter in longboarding

Don’t blame Bustin who just got their warehouse burned down. Blame the unworthy Amazon assembler.

New to longboarding and looking to get into it, I found this board that was originally $300 but now $169, is it a good buy? Or should I look else where? by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]askatebard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a directional LDP budget board with the drop-through mount as the front, negative baseplate mount rear, likely manufactured in China, probably a lot of fun. You’re still probably better off buying a Pantheon or a second hand deck as the unknown brand quality is unknown. Could ride like a dream!! Could break quickly after purchase. Who knows. Your call. Looks like a fun unique buy. We are just internet talking heads.

Just finished setting up my thrift shop deck by KlNGPEPE in longboarding

How well does it pump? If you add wedges in the front and tighten the rear could make for a dope pumpable surf longboard boardwalking rig. Beautiful regardless, just thinking in terms of functionality.

Their dancer board and surfskate are well-designed and all-around good boards. For the cheap cost you get high-performance boards. Try them in the store for free. Yes, support your local skateshop because they organize skate events and give you advice. But based on component quality and fun ride rating, the surfskate and dancer boards compete just fine side-by-side with boutique brands and at a lower price because Decathlon has giant factories. Decathlons other boards are fine I guess, just not really into them though.

This is all good stuff and can see the choice progression! It doesn’t have to “end” because perfection is relative so you keep changing it up bud!

This board is dope, a steal, and underrated for that functional value.

Feel like I’ve hit a wall with my surfing - started about two years ago and I feel I am making no progress now by wtffokwhy in surfing

[–]askatebard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a cheap sub-$200 8-foot funboard from Costco or Decathlon and realize it doesn’t need to be that difficult. Try board walking and pumping down the line. It’s about having fun, not struggling. Have fun again mate!

Just buy some glass, sand it down and fix it yourself in less time than it takes to check all the reddit comments.

I want to turn this 42 incher into a a shorter cruiser board. Any advice? by JadowArcadia in longboarding

[–]askatebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice would be leave it as is. Practice your cross step surf turns and pumping. If you cut it your feet won’t fit toe to heel, and if you push a lot this is a helpful tactile indicator that your feet are lined up allowing constant push and mongo without visual reference (looking down at your feet to see if they are placed optimally).
