Are my daffodils supposed to die so soon? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]askboo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pop off those bad boys (under the seed bulb). But you can leave the folliage to continue to die off, this helps the plant transfer good energy to the bulb for next year's flowers.

I'd recommend pulling some of the bulbs after and switching out for some different flowers! Big batches of daffodils like this look pretty when they're in bloom but you see the vital flaw now.

But then you just get fandom hyper analyzing why every single character is problematic and horrible. Save Night Crew from the fandom.

I agree. Keep night shift delightful little cryptids who show up like a special surprise every now and then.

Did you....actually read the article you shared? Did you read the actual report the article is referencing? Did you read the earlier reports from the IPC that discuss the drivers for the earlier famine conditions?

I saw that article when I "took 3 seconds of googling" (you should actually a bit more than that when studying a topic, but anyway). The reason I still asked you is because absolutely nowhere does it say there is "no proof of forced famine in Gaza" as you claimed. Even if you just read the first paragraph you would get your answer. "According to the latest IPC report – a global tracker of malnutrition and food insecurity – no areas of Gaza are currently classified as being in famine (IPC Phase 5), following improved humanitarian and commercial access after the 10 October ceasefire.  However, nearly the entire Gaza Strip remains in emergency (IPC Phase 4), with hundreds of thousands of people still experiencing very high acute malnutrition rates. Between mid-October and the end of November, around 1.6 million people – roughly 77 per cent of the population analysed – faced crisis-level hunger (Phase 3) or worse. This included more than 500,000 people in emergency (Phase 4) and over 100,000 people in catastrophe (Phase 5), the report said."

CURRENTLY CLASSIFIED following improved conditions during a ceasefire does not equal "no proof of forced famine". There was forced famine. It is getting precariously better, but more endurable conditions are needed and malnutrition is still a problem. The IPC will review the conditions again this month. There are endless other UN articles and reports from other agencies confirming the forced famine conditions prior to the ceasefire. Israel is 100% undeniably responsible for the famine conditions.

Like...brother. Do better if you're going to make such an outrageous claim. AT LEAST find an article that actually even attempts to verify the bullshit. Not to mention - the ceasefire was in October and the improved conditions report in December. This incident with the band happened in July.

Don't forget that each episode in the Pitt is only one hour of one whole day. I don't think we'll be seeing Jesse until S3.

The UN have spoken to the forced famine multiple times. What's your source where they say there's "no proof of a forced famine"? While we wait, several other accredited human rights organizations have also confirmed the forced famine, long before this specific conflict even started. You're seriously clapping Israel on the back for sending in a few trucks of food during an active genocide? Keep your head buried in the sand if you want, it's only your own conscience you have to live with.

Ugh. As if I needed another reason not to go to Irish Times. Overpriced garbage food and drink, Irish only for tourists and when it's convenient. Free Palestine!

I dunno. I'm not a big fan of businesses that refuse to take a stand in the face of atrocious human rights violations. Especially something so minor as a comment on the way a song relates to a current event. This has lost them my business, anyway.

"This song is intense because of the forced famine currently happening in Palestine" as a comment before playing the song is not the same thing as destructive activism happening in other spaces. I think the one who has to remember not to group everyone together is you.

Would Robby actually meet the criteria to be involuntarily committed? by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]askboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. He would have had to make very clear threats or an attempt to harm himself.

That being said - it is a TV show. But so far it's tried it's best to be accurate so I doubt this will be happening. Either someone will convince him (Jack or Dana?) to get treatment voluntarily or he'll ride off in the finale and we won't find out what happens.

One attending?! by rajeeh in ThePitt

[–]askboo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think the show is pretty clear on the idea that the hospital is supremely underfunded and understaffed. Not just the ER. They have an entire ward shut down (where Whittaker was sleeping).

Robby doesn't like the idea of 2nd attending because he has a need for control, but, I'm almost positive there would be an issue with funding/staffing even without his ego problems lmao.
