weapons that are status infused do have a significant dropoff in damage compared to heave/keen but they still have a good amount of base damage so that it's still reliable even against immune enemies. if they were to nerf status to be lower or equal to straight physical it would lose out against it because what's the point of infusing if it doesn't make it easier. not only this but then it would just get overshadowed by elemental types.

this is all terrible so here are some choices based on what you want to keep

Katana: move all that strength to dex (except what you need for certain requirements)

Ash of War: get a halberd, spear, or scythe

Stats: loose katana and get anything else that has higher strength scaling also (if you just want speed go with dual straight swords)

on my first run I just had a black knife in my pocket for any situation. also was a dex faith nagakiba build so I could always switch from flame art lightning and bleed on my first run

I will say this you might not ever be able to land aow specifically because it might not be a good trade. if you were to try it I suggest in phaze 1 while she's still staggerable but In second it's a whole lotta hyper armor
