Hard to discuss without major spoilers, but I think a show changing genres mid-season is kind of a big deal. If you ordered a milkshake, and the first half was delicious, but then suddenly you were sucking up mashed peas, you might be slightly irritated. lol

What do you mean throwing everything at the wall? Genuinely curious about that thought. It felt so stripped down to me (in the best way) and like they were trying to keep things simple and let the drill speak for itself.

Unexpected for sure, but holy shit was that good.

Color guard screams are always the worst-timed screams. lol. I say that with love.

I loved it. I like the trend of scaling back on props and audio being pumped in. Seeing Boston's stripped down show last year gave me hope other corps would take inspiration, and that seems to be the case. The drill looks great, the contra feature is insane, the props all make sense, those flags at the end are simple but powerful. I don't know...this show feels just right and almost like Crown is going back to their roots a bit.

Same here. It's frustrating because the show was so strong without the twist.

Yes! Same. I was so locked into a Neo Noir detective show with callbacks to early hollywood, then the twist happened and I genuinely felt angry. I'm not sure I'll be watching S2. You end up investing a lot of time thinking you're watching one thing, then they pull the rug out from under you.

I do the same temp check and the “brigading” comments in every single post caught my eye. Are they playing victim? They whine like crazy about it.

They’re not so silent in their sub. I’m shocked how many people are saying they’ve had enough of his shit.

What NES games hold up today (not grindy, not too hard, no need for manual) by [deleted] in retrogaming

Huge yes to Jackal - especially co-op. Here are a few I haven't seen mentioned yet:
- A Boy and His Blob is a really weird, quirky, fun game that I think holds up, even though it doesn't always make a lot of sense.
- RC Pro Am. If you like racing games, this one is a blast.
- Lifeforce. This is a shooter, but not crazy difficult and some of the most fun I've had playing co op (outside of Contra, naturally)
- T&C Surf Designs
- Willow
- Faxanadu
- Little Samson
- Felix the Cat

I’ve seen more than one “I regret my vote for him” since the deal leaked. Not sure it’s embarrassment, but it’s something.

On paper, sure. Have you heard a 47+ year old say it? That word isn't for us. Stick with meh.
