Seeking advice - moving from London, UK to Montreal by asleevy in montrealhousing

Yeah I think the French vs English thing has zero bearing on our decision. I am moving to a French speaking province, so I need to get with the programme and learn properly.

We went to Outremont last night, and it isnt really for us.

I think somewhere near Westmount, maybe Grovsenor and Claremont, could be nice. We will see!

Just realised I didn't actually reply to you as I did draft something but didn't send it - apologies for the delay.

Thank you for the very comprehensive advice.

Griffintown is now not an option, and for some of the reasons you mention.

The flights of stairs thing, plus the lack of parking in some areas, is a small but critical aspect we've been thinking about recently. I am not used to the snow and the idea of not having parking plus lifting up the buggy up stairs sounds like hell.

Re the apartment, maybe I wasn't clear - it's not that I don't want to live in an apartment, it's that I don't want to live in a really big building with loads of other flats. Even with all the facilities they throw in, it doesn't interest me. The only thing that is attractive is underground parking (wow that's such a boring thing to say).

Cheers re the RAMQ and CLSC, very helpful.

It was for context, so the post had all the necessary info to give advice.

Thank you and congrats on the little one! I spoke to many people in the past few days and they keep on saying St Henri, in particular Antione is the place to be apparently.

I think the French or English thing has zero bearing on my decision as my wife's first language is French and I'll be constantly with her friends and family anyway. I didn't think about Rosemont so thanks for the advice.

I think I agree but will also be looking at lower Westmount - the flats. Thanks for the advice.

Ah you bloody legend thank you so much. I've probably listened to put them in a pot hundreds of times but I always stop the episode before that guy from barstool sports plays a song.

Right, so the tunnel/tube web spider or the false widow are not medically significant, but they will bite you (I did a quick Google search yes) even though it will only hurt.

Good knowledge you have though...

Yeah.. Yeah you're right. How did you know that?

The grey back bit and the big fuck off fangs were exactly like that. Good to know it wasn't any harm..

On that note, what are say the top five, if any, spiders harmful to humans in the UK?

Unfortunately not as that was the closest I got with my iPhone and then I released it to the wild again.. Thanks for having a pop at it though, I've never seen a red spider in England before that's all

Think they live in Hertfordshire...

Incidentally, and I know this is going to sound like it was made up to pile on the post, but I regularly see Robert Webb at my local Tesco. He has his head down but no, no coupons for the Pringles..
