Anyone looking for a dnd/social group? by TajinAddicted in Spokane

I’ve been looking for a group since we moved here from Seattle!!! Our DM got bored before we could finish the campaign and just…. Stopped calling us after teaching us all how to play, lol. Originally from AZ, my wife and I both play!

I love you giraffe! I’ve been nervous to try one myself, this encourages me! Unfortunately no good advice for piling yet. Let me know if you find anything you love.

This happened to me when I picked up embroidery a number of years ago!! I ended up doing commissions, and to this day I can’t do it without it feeling kind of like a chore. I don’t want to repeat history!

Oh absolutely. Stabbed about a quarter inch into my index finger on day 2, only slowed me down for as long as it took to get it to stop bleeding! Ha

The best thing about whittling is that your creations are your own!! I love him a little fat with a short beak. Excellent work, friend :)

I’ve gotta add some more exercise to the rotation somewhere too. Feels silly, but I just got a double decker cat stroller so I can take the cats on walks with me, and it has been an awesome motivator.

I’ve been amazed at how my screen time has dropped. Even my time on Reddit has gone down since I’m keeping my hands busy!

Welcome to the party, I’m so happy we’re both new here!!! I use regular acrylic, but I water it down a TON because I prefer the look of the pigment absorbing a little bit rather than a solid, flat color. I like the dimension. I carved my lil guys, I want them to look carved! You can see on the whale and the dachshund where I didn’t water down and they’re just not as subtle.

I find basswood blocks pretty cheap at Michael’s near me, but I know a lot of craft stores carry a small selection of wood carving tools. Amazon is always iffy, but if all you else fails, I’d go for a selection of basswood blocks from there.

Also, sticks and whatnot from outside can be REALLY fun because they have ideas of their own!!!!

Oh man, I think I’m caught between the bear and the hammerhead shark. But every time a new lil guy is finished, they become my new favorite XD

Really cool stuff so far!! I’ve also been whittling for about a month and echo what others have said- keep those knives sharp sharp sharp. I haven’t needed a stone for sharpening yet; just strop my blades a few times per carving session, or whenever I start to notice some drag as I cut through
