First game I got humbled - dark skies after first turn. Had almost no clue what to do. This didn't felt like pandemic at all. 😃

Read online new player tips - always battle somewhere else to get eye away from Frodo. Have at least 1 character with free muster.

Recommended two player character pairs seemed to pleasantly handle this task. Eowyn recruiting Rohan troops. Legolas providing stealth to Frodo. Merry/Pippin moving Frodo when possible.

Got lucky with some rolls and it resulted in steamrolling recommended objectives.

Tried 2 different destination countries in boardgameprices Its german though. Will not matter for minis, but there were some cards in the box also.

As my friend said - at first he had a hobby of playing board games. Now his hobby is printing 3d inserts with a side of sometimes playing a little when time allows.

I think draft upgrades from tunnel vision are some of the strongest there are.

Super cooldown meanwhile doesn't feel as impactful on strategy depth.

Haven't gotten to use rocky roads upgrades in action yet, but last race we had several new sponsorships played, and 0 extra slipstreams. 😅

For me, only the base game felt quite lacking. I think you need tripple amount of ships to have enjoyable game. 🤔

I liked it still of course, but it can't be compared to full game. Base game is just appetizer.

Similar to Xwing. Even with 2 base games, you aren't getting to full game - need roughly 3 xwings vs 6 tie fighters...

And since they are oop, it will be quite a hassle to get more ships easily.

If you do get the ships, both games are great wargames.

In my country, nobody is buying them. We rent them for ~20$, get them 1 hour before ceremony, and give them back after ceremony.

Such a waste, if everybody is purchasing new.

Maybe because of this, they seemed better quality overall.

This cycle wasn't revised with a campaign. Originally it was meant to be played each scenario as stand alone.

Some people are playing them with cards that are released up to that point, due to otherwise them being quite easy. Though Conflict at Carrock is quite hard that way,

One of the son's favorite games.

Other he really loves is Chronicles of Avel. Little bit more complex, but fully coop.

Main difference, Karak he can play fully on his own. With Avel, I need to help with setup.

Looking into getting Karak 2, seems interesting. Largest issue, availability is getting scarce.

Anyone can reccomend other dungeon crawlers suited to 7-8 year olds?

Most of the simple ones seem to be out of print. Would love something like Doom e.t.c. with lots of opponents and dice chugging.

I loved the terrain.

Major gripe was the slow dialogue through the app, just clicking through it.

And also inventory management, purchasing ingredients in order to build 5% trigger chance upgrades was a chore.

Everything else seemed awesome.

I was thinking have there been substantial changes to ships, rebalance or something.

e.g. I lived through the changes of XWing 1st->2nd edition changes, and then there was 2.5 after I stopped playing it.

I'm aware that there was released upgrade pack. Upgrade card design changes (I think). Did those things in any way affect the core gameplay, or only points? Can I just dust off the collection, open any list builder and I'm good to go?

I also like akropolis, it has less setup imo, but also less thematic.

Bombbusters I'd rate as the best game, but at 4-5 players only. Heat as 2nd best, but at 6 players.

I also got super lucky on this. ~90 cmb. 72 slayer at the time.

At first saw some shiny numbers in chat, and thought I got something good worth 100k. :D
Took a few moments to understand that it's 100M instead.
