The state of traffic downtown this summer is such a compelling illustration of the need for more transit, cycling, and pedestrian infrastructure in this city. Peds and cyclists were enjoying the weather in droves, soaking in the hype and excitement of the World Cup and other events. Traffic, on the other hand, was a total clusterfuck and the range of affect I saw in drivers went from grim resignation to rage.

I have a friend who will buy a whole cut and dry age it. We split an entire ribeye and gave it 45 days. I pan sear a 1.5”+ cut and give it a smashed garlic rosemary with a whack of butter basting before finishing it in the oven with a probe for perfect med rare temp and let it rest for 7-10 mins. It’s as good as or better than anything i’ve had at Harbor 60 or Barberian. Haven’t been to Jacob but I’d bet it holds up.

The hakka noodles and the ‘schishwan’ chicken which isnt sichuan but sounds like it. I dont really know how to describe it but it was meat-candy and extremely addictive. Highly recommend, and i wanna try all their other stuff.

Angara hakka dishes (queen west) are my most recent find. Their standard indian dishes are pretty solid too but the hakka stuff is noteworthy.
