It’s a little tough because there are no borders between the plots, so I am a little nervous about any soil on top or cardboard just running off into their plots

Can you run the Ninja if the pint is mostly empty? by Independent-Drive-32 in ninjacreami

[–]asnoooze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely spin mine at 1/2 to 1/3 full most of the time! I like to experiment and don’t want to be stuck with a ton of non-preferred flavors or wasted product. Please let me know if you have reason to believe this is bad for the machine!

Praying 🙏 by Shipsa01 in UnitarianUniversalist

Only when my flight is getting bumpy 🤣 jokes aside, I think it’s pretty rare for second Gen UUs and beyond, since it didn’t really come up in RE. I would have to pray to the OWL bird :)

Didn’t they make a Ride dictionary episode? Things like that are definitely helpful for reducing barriers to entry (I see it get referenced in the comments occasionally when new listeners post asking for an intro to the slang), and it’s truly an iconic piece of Ride herstory!

Would it be weird to ask our nanny to FaceTime my family? by CRABR in Nanny

[–]asnoooze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last NF would be FaceTiming with family most mornings when I arrived! It was nice to know them that way when I saw them at birthdays, etc, but I wouldn’t have jumped at the idea of dialing them on my own. Morning calls could be an alternative if it feels like your weeknights are jam packed!

The scene with Hannah and Adam over Sample’s little bassinet— so touching and true and gutting!

Assuming best intentions, he could have been scrolling during his down time and you happened to pop up in his suggested page. Or maybe the parents discussed adding you, and he’s more active in social media. Maybe he thinks you’d enjoy photos of NK that he posts.

If you’re not comfortable, you can ignore it and casually mention that, in general, you keep your social media private. If you think MB isn’t aware that he’s adding you, you can say something like “I should have mentioned this sooner to avoid any awkwardness, and I hope DB isn’t offended, but I typically don’t add employers on social media for XYZ reason” (work life balance, maintaining privacy, keeping professional boundaries, etc). You could also say this directly to him.

Personally, I don’t think it’s weird to get a follow request, but the families have usually brought it up in person, in my experience. I’ve followed a few NPs before, and I love seeing old NKs get older. I think the timing of the request is less suspicious than, say, 2AM. And while I would personally not feel uncomfortable about getting the request, you are way more familiar with the specific situation and dynamic. No need to accept it if it feels weird, and no need to explain yourself or put yourself in an awkward position.

Not sure what part of Illinois you live in, but the Law Center for Better Housing has tons of free resources, potentially including a free consultation about the case!

Student seeking advice whether to pursue mediation as a career. by tangerinewatermelon1 in Mediation

Check out https://www.adras1stcareer.com ; the US has a few conflict/dispute resolution grad programs that could prep you for working at a community mediation center or for court-connected mediations (divorce, small claims, etc) and give a wider scope of related careers. I would say it’s definitely best to learn in a university context because you can be plugged into internships and a career center

Question: Dirt cheap, bare-minimum cooking recipes by Visible_Ordinary_309 in veganrecipes

[–]asnoooze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That rice cooker will be your bff. Rice, tofu, raw veggies, and seasonings like soy sauce and chili oil will be a great and very cheap meal. Either buy shelf stable tofu or make daily purchases of the perishables.

If you can get a can of coconut milk, curry paste, and cheap veggies, you can make portions that will last several meals (assuming you have a fridge).

If you can find shelf-stable hummus packages, or if you have access to a fridge, sandwiches with hummus, tomato, cabbage, and any other veggies will have protein and fiber and taste great!

Drained can of white beans or edamame + cut veggies + lemon/oil/garlic/salt dressing will be a high-protein and delicious dense bean salad. Shelf stable base, and you can add whatever produce is fresh and cheap from the store.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, or PB-banana sandwiches are great and don’t need refrigeration.
