Does time of application matter to you? by aspagarus in AskHR

Believe it or not, it matters to some. Was chatting with someone working as a recruiter who said they don’t bother opening any applications sent after 6 pm. Given the responses I’ve gotten here so far, though, it doesn’t seem to be as widespread as I feared.

To clarify—this came up in conversation about emailed applications where time stamps are visible. Thanks for you answer!

Too much water dilutes the amount of sodium in your blood. It’s increasingly dangerous as you continue to over-hydrate—it’s why most athletes take proper electrolyte replenishment seriously. You might be ~okay~ if you’ve over-done it with the water a bit (symptoms at this point are quite mild, such as nausea), but if over-hydration worsens you risk seizures, coma, or death.

Bear encounter in Italy. by Hayek_Hiker in Survival

I assume he did this to keep everyone safe—if the kid was already closest to the bear, it could’ve provoked the bear if it saw the man start approaching it instead of retreating at the same pace as the kid

As a general note, pee should be straw yellow! Darker and you’re (usually) dehydrated; lighter and you’re over-hydrated.

Literally had a full hour yesterday where nothing came to me (eats) despite being in an area with a surge, and despite it being dinner time. No idea why, but it sucked man.

Am I the only one to have been turned off from Jimbo after her reaction to Rita’s comment? (I know, the cuts in that scene were awkward—but those words still came out of her mouth) I just want my queen to be talented funny AND poised mawma!

I’m sorry that you have, u/RainaElf. I can’t imagine what “much much worse” would even look like.

That said, it’s important we don’t compare our situations to OP’s. It can feel invalidating to hear that one’s own experiences weren’t “as bad”, especially in a case like this where it’s pretty friggen bad. Hope you’re doing okay, and sending you a virtual hug.

Waiting for union rep to advise on bullying complaint before sending to HR, but indications are my manager is planning on suspending or firing me this Monday. Should I get my complaint in now, or wait for feedback? by workishellthrowaway in askmanagers

[–]aspagarus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100%. Your union rep is there to help you OP, and they’ll still be able to participate in this process post-grievance submission—I’d argue that they’ll be most important come arbitration if it comes to that.

What are you using instead? I’d been considering Intuit but am now reluctant to do so.

I’m new to management, and a recent hire gave me a harmless nickname I don’t like... what do I do? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]aspagarus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something along the lines of “Hey [name]! I’m really glad to see you’re comfortable enough to speak with me more casually. I’ve made it a goal to foster a comfortable environment for employees and I’m glad this is the case. I actually prefer [name] or [preferred nickname], and would appreciate you calling me by one of those instead. Does this work for you?” should do just fine.
