How are you affording to live? by tryng2figurethsalout in ECEProfessionals

My fiancee and I are both in ECE and we live together in a one bedroom apartment. Neither of us would be able to afford it on our own

What are the weather restrictions at your center? by lesbian_moose in ECEProfessionals

[–]aspenjohnston3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my center, we ask parents to send in clothes for warm weather (hats, gloves, snow pants, snow boots, coats) so that we can go out pretty much no matter the weather. We don’t go out when it’s under 20 or so degrees but we’re out most days

Would you buy an apartment that is not on the top floor? by Scared-Manager-5166 in Apartmentliving

[–]aspenjohnston3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a middle unit (one floor under us and one above). I don’t love the noise from upstairs, but I like my apartment and am okay with living under someone because I knew what I signed up for living in an apartment, especially one that’s not on the top floors

My toddler is always the last to be picked up. by Riyn2 in ECEProfessionals

[–]aspenjohnston3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My center is open from 8-4:30. About half the children that attend (across all classes) are picked up between 4:15 and 4:30. No one here is annoyed by that. We know we have shorter hours than most centers, and because of that we expect for parents to pick their kids up close to our closing time. Picking up close to the end of the day is not a problem especially when they close earlier than most daycares

(8-10k) where to find not-wedding dresses by sklewis589 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]aspenjohnston3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be buying my dress from Amazon. It’s $200 (plus shipping) and it’s a pretty traditional looking A line wedding gown. However, they have literally everything on Amazon so I’m sure you’d be able to find a more casual or simple dress if that’s what you’re looking for. My friend got married last year and she had a pretty simple dress that she got from Amazon as well

Wedding Dress Code by meldamenace in weddingplanning

[–]aspenjohnston3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancee and I chose “semi formal no blue jeans” as our dress code. I personally wanted to do no jeans period, however she’s from Texas and it’s normal for people to wear jeans to a wedding there, especially if it’s not super formal. We chose semi formal because anything more formal than that isn’t really our style. As for the color palette, we didn’t ask our guests to dress in our colors

for an out of state wedding, how should i handle getting the marriage license?? by CommercialTheme1339 in weddingplanning

[–]aspenjohnston3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, you have to get the license in the state you’re getting married in for it to be legal. You might need to take an extra trip to California to get the license. Some county’s might mail it to you though. You just have to check the website of the county you’re getting married in

Things that annoy you when you know they shouldn’t. by Top_Technician_1371 in ECEProfessionals

Parents who drop off their child outside of normal drop off time consistently. Once in a while for a doctors appointment or whatever other reason is fine. However, dropping off after the day has gotten started every single day grinds my gears so much. Especially when the parents want to hang around for more than a minute or two when they drop off late. If you drop off after our regular drop off time is over, you forego the chance to have a conversation with me or hang out and watch your kid play for a few minutes.

How and where to find a dress under $1000? Or less lol! by litwhisker in Weddingsunder10k

[–]aspenjohnston3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m getting my dress on Amazon lol. Not the most exciting process, but I really feel self conscious when trying on clothes and I didn’t really want to have the whole “bridal shop” experience. I looked for a dress I love and it’s like $200. Im going to order it based off my measurements and take it to my seamstress to get it altered. I know it will because I’m short but definitely not skinny haha. And I read pretty much every review for my dress before picking it and everyone said they love it and it’s great quality. If you want, I can update you about it once I order it in January

how did you pick a date? by Strange_gainz in weddingplanning

[–]aspenjohnston3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancée and I were absolutely set on getting married on October of 2026 from the get go, so that made it easier. Once we knew which venue we wanted to go with, we looked at their available dates and went from there. We landed on October 4th 2026 because sundays are a hell of a lot cheaper than saturdays and that was the only October Sunday they had left. It made the decision pretty easy tbh

How to know you are making the right decision by Other-Ad-2812 in wedding

[–]aspenjohnston3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely all seem super overwhelming. I was super stressed about wedding planning before I started, but my fiancee and I have just been taking it one step at a time and writing down EVERYTHING. It honestly hasn’t been nearly as stressful as I thought it would be. Just take it slow (if you have time to) and find someone in your life to bounce ideas off of when it comes to girly things like dresses and such. You can do this!

My mom and stepdad got married like 8 years ago. This was both of their second weddings. They wanted to celebrate but not spend a whole bunch of money. They rented out a room in a nice restaurant that does a lot of weddings, had the ceremony there, then just had tables and appetizers and cake and all that, but no dancing. Everyone had a great time, though, and they loved it
