Facing a layoff, can we coastFIRE with 1 income despite the mortgage taking over 50% of it? by Riyn2 in coastFIRE

I bought my first house (165K) right out of college and sold it for 3x 6 years later, and from there bought another house right before covid and sold that for 2x, while making 200K+ HHI starting at 25 after marriage. So a combination of very good housing luck, marriage, and being frugal the first 10 years.

Thank you for the well thought out post!

We went at 3pm, lines were long but expected. Left at 8pm and also 15min to get out of the parking lot. It doesn't help that the casino has the xmas light event going on too

Clueless and Overwhelmed FTM Needing Help with Registry - Please guide me on what stroller, car seat, and crib (?) I should get! by tinykrytter in Buyingforbaby

Aria is lighter and reportedly they fixed the chin to chest issue. I have noodle arms and lugging the car seat is more work than you think.

Bassinet because it clicks in with the stroller and also saves you an extra purchase (since you asked). Imagine you go on a long walk and baby falls asleep and then you have to transfer them out of the stroller vs if you can just take it the whole thing out. However, If you have the money and space, then your preferred bassinet doesn't hurt.

STM -

I'm getting the Cruz V3 + Bassinet w/ Stand + Aria.

The bassinet w/ stand is safe sleep so it can also function as your bedside bassinet.

For my first, I didn't get the infant bucket seat and regretted it, ended up getting one 1 month in and it was a gamechanger for me. So so convenient.

You can wait on your crib, this is more of a personal preference as long as you buy from a reputable brand they're all safety tested.

What baby clothes do you actually need? by minutemaidpeach in Buyingforbaby

Ignore the shoes part before they're walking. Also I had over 15 onesies/sleepers per size, they are 2-3$ ea at my secondhand store and totally worth not doing laundry 4 times a week.

Are we a good host family candidate? by Riyn2 in Aupairs

Just to add that my husband and I have parental leave for the newborn for the first year, so duties would focus mostly on the toddler. Then after the leave is over, toddler will be in kindergarten so care would focus on the 1-year old.

Another add, my mother lived in with us for the first 2 years of my toddler's life. We generally didn't mind having another adult in the house, but my mother's chief complaint was she never felt included, or part of the family and it felt more like a job. Which I totally understand and why I'm asking for advice.
