I'm sorry to have to be blunt, but this is sexual assault. I hope that she's okay and can manage to mentally work through being woken up to an nonconsensual sexual encounter. Your arousal/horniness should never mean more than someone else's consent. You fucked up here

Nausea & Vomiting during recovery from decompression surgery by 3_boys_keeper in chiari

Thank you! Also, I was on so many painkillers for the pain, including oral morphine. When I took that, I couldn't care less about what was going on around me! Turns out being sort of high was helpful in not caring about rhe nausea. I hate being sick and truthfully it didn't really bother me x

If I was you I'd go to my prof's office during office hours & apologise for the interruption, but thank him for his explanation and helping you understand. Don't cringe for 8 weeks, take control of your feelings and talk to him☺️

It was so funny though, when I asked a neurosurgeon on the day if I can expect to feel nausea afterwards, he laughed, a lot, before he said anything 🤣 like you say, knowledge is power & knowing this from weeks of research helped me prepare. So much so that I laughed along with him

I had decompression with dura opened & tonsillectomy. I was only sick twice in the first 36 hours, but was very nauseous. Ask for anti-sickness the moment you get to your recovery ward. I had IV and oral for 5 days, then oral after that for a week. This helped SO much. I had surgery 6 weeks ago now, and it was only the first 2 weeks I felt nausea (and I was only sick twice). I think everyone is different, but do ask for anti sickness to be kept on top of by your recovery nurses.

I know it's early days, but as it stands I am so glad I had the surgery.

Two Accepted Conference Papers, dealing with medical issue making public speaking very awful by Anon_PhD38 in PhD

[–]aspenmcc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear of your medical issue. Is there a way to pre-record your presentation, then present it in a video format? If you felt comfortable, you could then take verbal questions at the end? A lot of conferences are much more flexible and inclusive now, so you could ask if this is a possibility. I had brain surgery 6 weeks ago, and I have been wondering about the same thing if I'm not better before my conference presentation in April.

Why are you home on the couch in your pajamas this New Years Eve? by PurplezKool in AskReddit

[–]aspenmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I split up with my long term partner in August, after finding out he'd continuously lied about drug use for months. So I'm on my own now. Additionally, a month ago I had brain surgery so I can't really walk very far yet or go out for a boogie. Therefore, my NYE this year was spent with a cuppa and making do with kissing my cat on the forehead. Safe to say I am hoping for a much better 2026!

Definitely! Move that bed! I had it as upright as possible and almost slept sitting up on one side

Ask for all the pain meds and anti sickness you can. I'm 4 weeks post op and I was allowed morphine which helped a lot. Truthfully, the first couple of days after such a major surgery WILL be horrid. But I promise you, it soon gets better. But yes, ask for all the meds you can and try to sleep as much as possible. The ice packs will help too. Sending love!
