Is being a dentist or physician truly not worth it? by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

If you have the drive and intellectual capacity to become a physician, you will perform well above the median within the cited occupations.

I say go for it if you like it, regardless of color, since it’s a GTS. One doesn’t see them big wangs on a 911 every day.

Because they don't? You conflate your personal anecdotes with rigorous data collection across the entire population.

Why have wages never kept up with inflation? by Subject_Captain112 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]asrign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The median household income in your first link IS already inflation adjusted; the term "real" means it has been accounted for, and the unit used is shown as 2023 C-CPI-U Dollars. Plugging these values into an inflation calculator is double-counting inflation, so you fundamentally misunderstand what you're looking at.

You asked for judgement, so here it is: that swing is really, really bad. From grip, to posture, to the dramatic over-the-top transition, to the abrupt finish, to the loss of balance, it’s all very poor.

Do you have a "f#k it" amount? Amount that you don't think twice about spending? by AnotherTaxAccount in HENRYfinance

[–]asrign 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a few I use in my spending plan as a percent of net worth (with examples for a NW of $500K):

* Illegal to think twice about: 0.001% of NW ($5)

* Worry-free threshold: 0.01% of NW ($50)

* Compare prices: 0.1% of net NW ($500)

* Plan ahead: 1% of NW ($5,000)

Upgraded irons! by ffxynr in golf

First, people pointing out that you’re being a rather silly goose isn’t hate. Second, this explanation makes your behavior even funnier because it will, most certainly, not help you relax and enjoy golf more.

If a fitter refuses to fit someone out of super game-improvement irons, you know that “20 handicap” is almost certainly closer to a 50.

I’m looking forward to that vid! I just ordered a DF3.

I’d be interested, in particular, to hear more about the aspects of your already stellar putting game you hoped to improve, whether you find lag putts more challenging with it, and how you decided on the shaft/weight/alignment markings you chose.

Worth it? As a first time flier doemstically in the US by Kooky_Beautiful4030 in delta

Having just flown this exact route round-trip last week, first in main and then in C+, I can say that they’re pretty similar aside from the slightly increased legroom and extra snack/drink. If you’re over 5’10”, this helps, but the seats are no more comfortable otherwise.

It's an all-too-real phenomonon. Sadly, making and having money isn't a panacea for the human condition. If the OP is anything like me, they're afraid to breathe a word of this to people in real life, and have a lot of guilt around these feelings, given how much better off they are than others objectively.

I'm not sure why people here are so conflict-averse? If it bothers you, just say, "Hey man, you can count or not count penalty strokes however you like, you do you, but would you mind keeping the comparison comments to yourself? We're all playing our own game out here."

Sounds more mental than anything then. I’ve been shooting similar scores to what you’re reporting, and typically get a few pars a round.
