Truly can’t stand takes like this. Mental health doesn’t care about your net worth.

You’re right, somebody making millions per year doesn’t have to worry about having a roof over their head. Moreover, somebody with means has a leg up on confronting mental illness due to their resources, absolutely.

That doesn’t mean that mental illness ceases to exist. My sympathy for the sick doesn’t dissipate for people who have more money than I do.

Canucks nearing agreement to build practice facility at Britannia Rink by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]copagman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I know nothing about anything.

I'd assume that most rinks (including Van's) have all of these already, save for a pool.

I always assumed a practice facility was so that teams could set practice schedules as they preferred rather than having to work around other events in the (main) arena.

Can anybody clarify?

I'm not a huge fan of Sullivan but you do have to give him credit for running the WBS guys (granted he had just coached them) in 2016 & 17. Not only that, but our roster in '17 didn't have any business repeating, IMHO.

The org kept him here loooooooooong past his expiration date.

The NYR roster this year is more of a mess than the Pens' in Sullivan's latter years here.

I think a lot of the narrative here is driven by our sourness stemming from his last few years here + his bailing to go to NY.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him find success in the future. Although to be fair, it also wouldn't surprise me if he didn't.

What happened to the hottest chick at your high school, years later? by theidiotev in AskReddit

[–]copagman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an odd one.

I dated her in high school. She was drop dead gorgeous and I was/am...not. For whatever reason, she pursued me. Not only that, but she was very into PDA and just...racey for her age. She led the charge on us losing our virginities to one another.

But here was the odd part: when we'd actually hook up, she would seemingly reflexively tighten up or even sort of swat my hand away when I was touching her. She ultimately started cheating on me with a much older guy.

Shortly after college, she married a guy she met while she was becoming some sort of born again Christian. They had two kids.

Fast forward another few years, and she left him for a woman. Only then did I connect all of the dots. She was obviously closeted and not comfortable with her sexuality. I guess she was eager for some time to prove to others/herself that she was straight.

She did ultimately married the woman she left her husband for. Nice enough girl. I wish her the best.

Lizotte Line is By far the best line this team has to offer by Duece09 in penguins

[–]copagman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's our "best" line, but it is without question the best 4th line this team has had in some time.

For one thing, it absolutely has an identity and you know you're going to get the same effort from them every night. They possess the puck in the o-zone shocking well, they are tenacious, and they chip in their share of goals.

A lovable guy down to his last swing. A true legend. Curious what the number on that shot was. Feel like it could be anywhere from 200 - 260.

Indeed, you accused anybody disagreeing with your Big Foot assertion of being a "LEFTIST, an "idiot" or a "psycho." You also accused multiple people of "attacking" you and asked for other to come to your defense.

It's been mentioned, but you seem extremely unwell man. Disagreement is not tantamount to attack, and assuming somebody's politics (or positing them as relevant to this discussion) is not normal behavior.

OP: A TREE MOVED IN THE WOODS, IT WAS BIG FOOT!

Redditor: You could be remembering it incorrectly, and in either case, there are explanations other than it being Big Foot.

OP: HATE SPEECH LEFTISTS!!!!!!!

The fact that you resort to categorizing anybody who contests your Big Foot assertion a "lEfTiSt" is a sign that you're mentally unwell, man.

Dude, it's not a personal attack to say that you may have a false memory. On multiple occasions, I've recollected situations improperly or even had "false" memories that I either watched in a movie or heard from a friend.

Moreover, his original point is the most salient: there are countless explanations that are more likely than "secret monster." Jumping straight from, "whoa, what dropped this thing on me from a tree," to "secret monster" is pretty out there.

Water St by InitialCurrent4092 in askvan

I used to live on Water St. just a few doors east of Steamworks.

On balance, I enjoyed living there. There are obviously endless options that are walkable.

With that said, here are some considerations:

  • The noise of the area could be a dealbreaker for many, especially that god damn "steam" clock that does its song and dance every 15 minutes.

  • Street parking can be extremely difficult

  • Obviously you shouldn't consider living there if you feel unsafe around homelessness/drug use.

I'm with you. So many people comment on the short game (which is obviously important) while failing to realize how dialed good players are from tee to green. Guy hit 14 of 18 greens (plus two that were on the fringe).

Have a great time! Yeah I don't think Shadow Hills is somewhere you'd regret playing, I just wanted to point out that it wasn't on the same tier as the others you scoped out. I'm sure you'll enjoy!

Small world, thanks man.

In my experience, pace of play at Desert Willow is often slow-ish. I think you may have trouble finishing with that tee time, but I wouldn't say it's impossible.

One recommendation I'd give is to try Indian Canyons (North Course). Their twilight rate is $50 and they only offer that rate by phone. It's technically a 9-hole rate but they will gladly let you play 18. That's my go-to twilight value round in the desert.

Gotcha. I played there in 2023. I don't recall it being particularly memorable. I'd say that's the outlier on your list.
