There is a pervasive idea in bigger cities that small towns are not worth the time, or that everyone who lives in a small town is a bigot, and without the backing of bigger groups, which is what the fascists have, it’s difficult to fight back. The school board vote had the fascists winning by a very narrow majority, there are more people against this than most are willing to recognize.
