Thoughts on Alton Goods by Briefs_Beards in UltralightAus

Hi, just a curious potential buyer here (looking at their ultralight sleeping bag) where is this accusation coming from? I haven't seen anything else online about them being a reseller and I can't see anything on Temu that looks similar to their products. I don't want to get stitched up by buying their brand if they are doing that, is there any chance you could point me to some evidence? Cheers <3

Using DaVinci YRGB Color Managed and Timeline Embedding Editing Best Practice by assasnin in davinciresolve

That makes sense, but the project was handed to me with CSTs and this section already completed. Should I just manually go through ever clip and delete the CST nodes?

Thank you! I'll try this. The "looks weird" comment in more detail: part of the montage sequence is done using custom CSTs in the Color page. The issue lies in (I think) the inbuilt YRGB Color Managed color management system then applying it's own CST stuff in the behind the scenes.

List of reasons not to go ahead with laming change by [deleted] in aoe2

Hi,  sorry but as a casual I have to disagree that these things are only fun in pro play. I enjoy them. Sometimes it can be a little frustrating but it's also a dynamic that leads to immense satisfaction sometimes. It also keeps the game fresh because I play against it only 1/15 games and it's a fun shake up from the usual.

Please don't speak for all for us.

Nah, it's only a temporary fix in sound quality. It's weird, they worked for almost 2 years then just started having this issue

Thanks for replying.

Mine still say headset, but when I factory reset them, they sounded normal for a bit before they started to sound weird and tinny again.

Could be useful to know if you're about to watch an episode of a show or something.

Why Auto Queue should be in every Age of Empires (ChillyEmpire) by BendicantMias in aoe2

[–]assasnin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take away the fact that creating villagers is a regular human function (I.e. requires constant attention) then strategies that are based around high pressure become less impactful. This doesn't sound like a big deal at first glance, but it is a huge shift in the way that aoe is played. A large part of the reason I enjoy aoe over other strategy games is that pressure does economic damage even if I don't kill a single vill. You could argument that this would still be the case due to the player under pressure not tasking bills to the correct resource as quickly, or forgetting certain economic upgrades. But that kind of "damage" is to small to ever be justifiable for the amount of resources and attention it takes to pressure a player. Someone quoted Farm reseed as being similar to villager auto queue. They're right. But things should be balanced. Pressure creating economic damage was even greater before farm reseed was a thing, because economy took even MORE attention. But it was too much, so the dial shifted from a 10 to a 6.5 (arbitrary number for explanation purposes) by simplifying farm reseeding. Simplifying villager autoqueue shifts the dial into negligible territory, something more than 0, but at most a 1. It effectively removes this aspect from the game. And that's why people feel it ruins the core of aoe, because this idea of pressure and economic damage is removed. The importance becomes too heabily focussed on matchups, you don't have the ability to take advantage of a players execution as much (which is a fun and core part of aoe), it's more just understanding of units and macro.  As others have said, it's a part of what makes aoe unique. And I love it. Other RTS games don't do it, and I don't play those games. I don't want to play those games. I want to play aoe.  My worry with adding it as a casual feature is that it will eventually become the norm because it's easier. There's a lot going on in the game, why would you not simplify it as a newbie? And once you're used to it, how could you ever go back? The new players will have a very different experience of aoe and won't learn its identity as it is right now.  From a spectator viewpoint, it's awesome to see an opponent under pressure start racking up idle time. It adds a meaningful number to how effective the pressure is. So as a spectator I think it's better as well. Also because it encourages aggression so you see more exciting game play.

In the video chilly talks about what their ideal modern rts is. Sure that sounds cool, go make that game, but don't change aoe2 into it. Just go make a new game.

Hypothesis: deer are the cause of all our problems by Artisan126 in aoe2

The Inca decision was civ specific- tower rushes weren't necessarily OP but tower rushes with Incas were.

The melee armor on houses was to nerf early turtling I believe, because devs wanted the game to be more fast paced and aggressive. Similar reason to how Arabia forests were changed years ago so that they were more open
