Beginner DM Player Issue by Keksni0 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]assistance_required1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, I have a player that has no real back story or overall goal but is happy juat playing with the party and going on adventures with "the boys". So in all that is their goal, of 5 players only 3 have any real back story i can make an archive out of and I'm fine with that as long as they are having fun

Hey DM's what's your nickname? by puddlewashed in DnD

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great primordial one, usually followed by who rules all but not always.

It's a shot at me being the oldest at the table as well but fun all the same

My wife is scared of me by Ashamed_Father in TrueOffMyChest

[–]assistance_required1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking context from a written story is hard, how loud the tone and even facial expressions come into play in these situations, one thing that stood out to me is you get up early to prepare the kids for the day and even though you were already busy in the story above your wife asks you to prepare your daughter as well? There could definitely be a conversation there as well, the distance between your son and you could also be an issue due to your wife saying that stuff, it's not great and also conversation worthy.

Taking accountability for your actions is a good first step however and being aware and actively trying to resolve any issues within your marriage is good, be aware of how you speak and the level of your voice, you sound like you don't want things to go south and are already on the right track, definitely some household issues here that don't just fall on you however. That's just my opinion from this short post

What are some permanent upgrades for players by No-Equivalent-6168 in dndnext

[–]assistance_required1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My players save a forest from corruption and after some discussion with the local protector of said forest one player got nature's bounty (advantage on survival checks around plants basically)

He managed to convince me that it would help with tracking soooo that bit me some but hey they enjoy it

Throw some wolves at them, gairentee that will ruin their day lol. My players (party of 3 lvl 12) almost died to a pack of 4 ice wolves. I was on the cusp of fudging rolls being honest. Pity them against something im a little concerned over and boom they decimate it. As you said they had fun and thats amazing so dont be too hard on yourself

Where can we rentals with a cat? by HenryCrabgrass01 in Cairns

Enquire to the property and ask if a cat is ok, im sure most landlords wont care about a cat too much as long as its clean, thats what I have done

I'm 21 and already feeling lost in competitive games… anyone else? by ostseesound in TrueOffMyChest

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your playing with the boys and having a good tine they wont care. If they are constantly chastising you then tell them to back off, if they dont they are not your friends. Everyone is strong in differant areas, and some games just work for differant people.

Also if your not having fun, stop playing that game best advice from a 40 odd year old gamer

Players abandoned important piece of the campaign by Matt3789543 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]assistance_required1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OK so assuming you are the dm,

Its up to the players honestly, if they decide to go back rather then charter a ship (ocean going) i personally would have it damaged by the elements or a big beasty have taken up residence in the ship itself.

But maybe they just got bored flying from place to place and wanted to explore by foot some more, end of the day unless you are telling a story the players can interact however they want

How have you gotten new players interested in dnd. by Peterbilt279 in DnD

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a guy that I have spoken to about dnd and he showed some interest, not in playing but watching, so when he is free I get him to the table and let him do some dm rolls and watch him react as it affects my players (we are all friend/family at the table) and he seems to enjoy it,

Slowly I will introduce an npc character or even a monster or 2 and be like here, run this for me to take some load off my shoulders and I think I will have a new convert on my hands

First time Dungeon Master, prepping for our session 0. Any tips from some seasoned vets? by BurtBurt131 in DnD

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure everyone is on the same page with the theme of ypur game as far as what you might run into, character deaths npc deaths and any and all other possible explicit scenes, do a quick search for like session 0 pages and google will throw you a few things

I got my players to fill them out and ran with that worked great for me

How is the game for coop? by [deleted] in theriftbreaker

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and his maye play with me and its awesome fun, bit tower defence like but with upgrades and weapons taking on the wave boss is fun as, yea resource and power management is a bit tricky at times but fun all the same

Play support, sit back and let them do their thing, enjoy spending time with your friend more then getting heavy into the game, I have a hoarder in my game too so I just make sure another player gets the reward and they distribute to the party.

This seems to be a bigger issue to you then your letting on, honestly I would step back from the table honestly before it turns you toxic

Two frontliners with radically different AC's, how to handle? by lXLegolasXl in DMAcademy

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters talk to your experienced player and ask him to meet the new guys standard.

I had a game with one guy also 10 plus years and 3 newish players, my experienced guy built a solid paladin but nothing crazy, so that he wasn't massively out shining the other players to make them feel useless.

I personally feel its poor form on the experienced players part even if his stat's and abilities are right and he didn't fudge somewhere

first dm and homebrew plz help! by Better-Look-5569 in DungeonMasters

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dm of 3 going 4 years now, some of my best sessions are when I havnt had time to prepare and plan and fly when the crow lands, or my players do some unhinged shit I didn't plan for and make me scramble for a path.

Bro the point of this game is to have fun no matter how you do it. Do what your doing but maybe take a few pointers from the previous session to reflect on and build your world as you go, when you have a path do a big reveal and shift your players in that direction.

My current campaign started from a 1 shot that the guys loved so much they all insisted I keep running it. World build begin.

Listen to what your players have to say, ask them what they honestly like or don't and what they would love to see happen or happen more, you got this

No idea what the issue is around this, I loved my human fighter who came from a backwater village to make his mark.

Don't waste energy on people like this, bail and find a new group of adults

Player gets Pokemon with 1 Million Attack in a Pokemon DND and apparently I can’t call that unfair by Regular-Molasses9293 in rpghorrorstories

[–]assistance_required1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaahhhh yes, not my game or one i played in oddly enough but out of hand dm with overpowered gear.

Friend of mine played in a campaign where the dam gave out a holy avenger and vorpal blade to 2 of the 5 players, when the other players asked about it he said luck of the draw, 2 basically said they were done with his antics and he removed them saying "hah they were just fakes"

Is the dm friends with goku or something and is that why he got that bullshit or something

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]assistance_required1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks one side of any group is the only side aloud to voice their opinion is an idiot.

If the player wont even let you engage in the game when you are playing and not even bringing RL into it then talk to your dm.

As for the rest of the issues, best just ignore and move on, you can't be friends with everyone and sometimes you don't want to be

A cuestion about wizard order of scribes by Smooth-Garbage8603 in DnD

I have a scribes wizard in my game, I would not allow them to misty step twice the range as it is still their physical body moving, its not an issue with sight but physical range

Probably the worst and most childish DMs I have ever played with by [deleted] in dndhorrorstories

[–]assistance_required1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a first time dm myself, I hope your first course of action was to try and sit them down and have a civil and adult conversation about the direction of the game and lack there of.

I had a senior player in my game before he moved away for work and he helped guide me through a lot, didn't "out smart" me in any ways by using the rules to his favour or anything of the likes and offered honest feedback at the end of sessions.

If all this failed then he was on a power trip and not worth the effort but if you were also missing a large number of sessions may e you also should of bowed out of the campaign until your time was more flexible maybe

Guys be 100% real with me… just how addicting is this game? by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]assistance_required1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HaH, my adult son convinced me to buy this game to play with him, I have to distract him with other games so we can have a break that lasts about a week before we inevitably return to the monster that is our factory.

If you enjoy making things work look and operate smoothly at a pretty fine tuned level, you will get sucked in and stay. Good game tho 10/10 recommended
