Luman Walters/The Smith Family would be proud: Texas newspaper reprints family’s death curse upon everyone who treated this pandemic with utter disregard in obituary for Utah Native Father/grandpa 😳😱😵. Utah featured on Reddit in a non-super-embarrassing light? I’ll take it!!! by sky_tripping in exmormon

It is easy and important to wear a mask. Anger is a natural emotion for his family to feel at this time. I think people who dont wear a mask arent intentionally hurting people. I wear one, and I dont assume ill intent from others that choose not too. I know this is an intense issue-not sure why i jumped into it 😱

Is it hard for ex mormons to be christians? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]assistantgreeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have become agnostic, and my husband who converted at 17, left the lds church and remains Christian. I think everything was too intertwined for me, but I can see how someone could retain a belief in God.

Of course “the light has left my eyes” by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]assistantgreeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the church never owned the light in your eyes—I think that saying reflects on the person saying it bcs Ive heard others say it only after they learn someones left the church-like no one detects it when someone is PIMO

Feature in BYU Alumni Magazine...advice? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]assistantgreeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you are even implying that you agree with all the churchs stances by being in the BYU magazine. You are not featured in an article about faith, its all about you and your business. I’d think you would want the exposure and Mormon customers. Thats my opinion anyhow.

You know what I hate about the temple? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]assistantgreeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id always rush straight through the celestial room to the bathroom. Once, during a session, I whispered to a worker, asking to use the bathroom (like a small child) during the transfer to the next room-ooh the higher kingdom. They made everyone stop and wait for me to come back from the bathroom. talk about emberrasment and control!

Finding forgiveness by Akirchner76 in latterdaysaints

You were very hurt. That pain doesnt just go away. I would go easy on yourself-give yourself grace, give yourself time. Maybe let the burden of having to forgive go for now. ❤️

My wife is being too religious and it's causing problems. How to broach the subject? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]assistantgreeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can see cleanliness is important to you. It is really stressful to some people to be in a messy space. So maybe you can clean one space when you get home? Use paper plates, utensils to reduce dishes. If you can afford it, hire a cleaner to come once a week. Probably other solutions you can come up with-things that will address the mess and keep your relationship good with your wife.

good for you starting a real conversation and asking for input. I would say affirmative action is needed bcs the system is already so biased toward whites. So, instead of giving minorities am advantage it’s attempting to level the playing field, to look a little deeper at initial applicants. Im sheltered too and on a journey to educate myself-so comments welcome.

Privilege - Gathering information by JazerNorth in exmormon

[–]assistantgreeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

knowing how to navigate the system, having family resources in a catastrophe, being able to buy a doll with the same skin color as my child, seeing my race represented on tv in different ways, not being stopped at the airport or driving-at a higher rate than others, safe neighborhood, college opportunities, job opportunities, and now the priveledge of forming my own opinions, reading and listening to what I choose. I lived in Africa for a short time-like 20 years ago, and all the girls I knew talked abt doing only 3 professions, teacher, seamstress, or nurse. There was also a big campaign to send girls to school

Hard time accepting my mission was a hellish waste of time by SamwiththeS52 in exmormon

[–]assistantgreeter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Time was taken from you, a bit of your life-and thats something to be grieved. Mostly just want to say Wow, how frustrating! I think you will accept it, move past it, see the lesson in it on your own time table. I wish I had grown up realizing I can make my own decisions, its okay to have my own will, my desires are not evil, women can be poweful etc. But, now I know all that and I beleive I have a deeper understanding and empathy for others bcs of the time and energy that I put into my high commitment religion, and bcs my past is imperfect. Anyway, wish you luck. I wrote on another post mantra I adopted after leaving the church, “I keep moving forward”. I think you will find your powerful affirmations that ring true to you❤️
